Mwana Africa appoints Donald McAlister as Finance Director

The Board of Mwana Africa PLC ("Mwana" or the "Company"), the pan-African resource company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Donald McAlister as Finance Director with effect from 1st October.

Mr McAlister has significant breadth of experience in the mining sector, including 19 years of experience as a finance director for African mining companies. Prior to joining Mwana he was Finance Director of Ridge Mining PLC from 1999 until its acquisition by Aquarius Platinum in July 2009. At Ridge Mining he helped manage the acquisition, financing and development, through to production of the Blue Ridge platinum mine.

Prior to Ridge Mining, Mr McAlister was Finance Director at Reunion Mining PLC where his experience included the financing of gold and base metal mines in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia. Before that he worked in finance roles at Centurion Mining PLC, Enterprise Oil PLC and Cluff Oil PLC. He is currently a non-executive director of AIM listed mining company Tertiary Minerals plc where he is Chairman of the Audit Committee.

The Board of Mwana would like to thank Peter Sydney-Smith, who has resigned from the board of Mwana with effect from today, for his significant contribution to the Company and wishes him success in his future endeavours.

Commenting on the appointment, Kalaa Mpinga, Chief Executive Officer of Mwana Africa, said:
