ARBUTHNOT BANKING GROUP PLC (THE "COMPANY")

Market Purchase of the Company's Own Shares

Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at the Annual General Meeting of the Company held on 14 May 2008 to make market purchases of the Company's own shares, a market purchase of 3,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in the capital ("Shares") of the Company was made on 12 March, 2009 at a price of 220p per share.

These shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above, the Company holds 287,699 shares in treasury.
