ARBUTHNOT BANKING GROUP PLC (THE "COMPANY")

Market Purchase of the Company's Own Shares

Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at the Annual General Meeting of the Company held on 14 May 2008 to make market purchases of the Company's own shares, a market purchase of 28,500 ordinary shares of lp each in the capital ("Shares") of the Company was made on 13 November, 2008 at a price of 300p per share.

These shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above, the Company holds 107,849 shares in treasury.
