Appian Technology PLC22 December 2006 Appian Technology plc / Ticker: ATT / Index: AIM/ Sector: Electronic 22 December 2006 Appian Technology plc ('Appian' or 'The Company') Directorate Changes Appoints Peter Coyle to the Board Appian Technology plc, the AIM listed provider of Automatic Number PlateRecognition systems ('ANPR'), and traffic guidance products and solutions, hasappointed Mr Peter Coyle to the Board as a Non-Executive Director with immediateeffect. Peter, aged 59, holds a master's degree in economics and has extensiveinternational negotiating and business development experience. As an ExecutiveDirector of the Irish Government's industrial development agency, he wasresponsible for all global trade development beyond Europe and has deepexperience of negotiations at the highest levels in international business andgovernment. He has led and actively participated in a successful programme toactively scale up high potential technology businesses and provide strategicadvice and guidance to them at chief executive officer and board level. After starting his career as an Economics lecturer, Peter went on to join theIrish Industrial Development Agency (Enterprise Ireland) to liaise with the EUCommission. He then took charge of regional industrial development in Irelandand was appointed Manager of the agency's programme to support new start upcompanies. Peter was also appointed to lead investment and support activitiesfor Ireland's indigenous manufacturing industry, where he took charge ofrestructuring State support for industrial research and development in IrishUniversities. More recently he has worked on initiatives to scale up companies, particularlyin the technology sector and has worked at boardroom level with severalcompanies in software, engineering consultancy, telecoms, packaging andelectrical engineering. As he will have been appointed since the date of the last AGM he will beformally considered for re-election as a director of the Company in accordancewith the articles of association at the annual general meeting of the Company tobe held on 26 January 2007. The Board also announces that John Finan who has served as a non executivedirector with Appian since 1999 has, following a review of his portfolio ofwork, decided to step down as a non executive director on the Board of Appianwith effect from the date of the Company's next annual general meeting. Wethank him for his contribution to Appian and wish him well. It is intended to appoint a further non-executive director in the coming months.
