Amerisur Resources PLC06 September 2007 6th September 2007 Amerisur Resources PLC First Well Spudded on Platanillo Contract Amerisur Resources Plc ('Amerisur'), the oil and gas explorer and developerfocused on South America, is pleased to announce that Platanillo-1 has beenspudded. Platanillo-1 is located in the Putumayo Basin and drilling operations for the consecutive two wells within this area remain on schedule. The Platanillo-1 well will be drilled to a total measured depth of approximately 8,413 feet, overa period of 30 days. This well is located 2,200m from the existing discovery well, Alea-1 and will penetrate the "P50" contour of the structure map generated from seismic data. Platanillo-1 is classed as an A2b (Lahee classification) exploration well, and as such the objective is to ascertain the presence of reserves at a position structurally deeper than Alea-1. Should the well encounter hydrocarbons, initial testing is planned to last for 10 to 15 days. The drilling rig will subsequently drill the next well, Platanillo-2, of which the location depends upon the results observed in Platanillo-1. The re-entry programme for Alea-1 is on schedule as previously announced. Amerisur Resources Plc holds a 25% working interest in this block under thePlatanillo E&P Contract with the Colombian National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH).Repsol YPF holds 35% and Ecopetrol S.A.(40%)is the operator.
