AFC ENERGY APPOINTS LUTHER PENDRAGON AS INTEGRATED FINANCIAL AND CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS ADVISER
12 March 2012: AFC Energy plc (AIM: AFC), the leading developer of low-cost alkaline fuel cell technology for industrial applications, is pleased to announce the appointment of Luther Pendragon to spearhead an integrated corporate and financial communications strategy.
The appointment follows significant progress at AFC Energy to commercialise its technology with the recent installation of its Beta fuel cell System at a global chemicals producer, and the arrival of a new chief executive, Ian Williamson, from Air Products.
Based in the City of London, Luther Pendragon will combine the roles previously held by two separate agencies in a move to align AFC's public relations with its business strategy, as well as improve coordination and quality of communications with stakeholders.

About fuel cells
A fuel cell is a device that produces electricity, heat and water by reacting a hydrogen-rich fuel with oxygen. Conventional engines and turbines combust fuel to produce mechanical energy prior to generating electricity. The direct generation of electricity allows fuel cells to be highly energy efficient. There are several different types of fuel cell, each with its own characteristic but they are all based around a common central design.
