STRATFORD HALO DEVELOPMENT
Notting Hill Genesis owns a development in Stratford, East London. This includes a 42-storey tower.
We have carried out an expert-led inspection of materials and workmanship in the external cladding on the development. Most of the cladding used on the site is High Pressure Laminate (HPL) rather than ACM, but our experts are of the view they fall below expected standards of fire safety.
There is no HPL cladding on the tower itself.
Our original contractors are due to provide us, within the next few days, full details of how they propose to replace the cladding. In the meantime, as an additional precautionary measure, they started on site today (Tuesday, 5 March) to remove sections of cladding and insulation in a small number of locations. Once these are removed, temporary cladding will be erected to ensure the buildings are weather proof.
The temporary works are intended to reduce risk ahead of the permanent replacement of all panels in due course, and we expect them to take about 10 days to complete. While the temporary work takes place, we have implemented a waking watch and a full evacuation policy across the entire site.
The remedial work to replace the cladding will be carried out by our contractor as a defect under the original construction contract. None of the costs of this work will be passed onto the residents.
