Quady...I get where u are coming from. For a while I thought you were off on one as usual.
The 'time line' I was on about is the SP timeline. IE: A kick up the backside of this stock price not the timeline for building the mine by 2025.
Having said that and just for clarification, (a) WTF does the ecuadorian mining ministry know about the speed of building mines and (b) are you saying that a minnow that has become (in theory but not in practice) can build this mine faster than any major?
So let's assume for arguments sake that next week, Barrick buys solg out. Will Barrick not be able to build the mine faster than solg even though they have decades of experience and the wherewithall to do it?
[Not that I care - because as soon as this sp passes 50p....sayonara solg.]

In this case, why are NCM sitting on the sidelines instead of chipping away @ Solg thru CGP perhaps? Why haven't BHP made noises / moves to that effect, also?

I am the first to chastise those who think Solg can and will go it alone. It's not because I think it is an impossible feat, moreso that it will take forever and a day.....and for me time is atleast as precious as money. So this is the basis for my shenanigans. I have constantly said that there is money to be made in this stock (one would have to be naive or a hermit to think otherwise) but I still think and want NM to sell or JV so that the time line will accelerate; I can make a profit and then move on.
HOWEVER, for those hardcore fans of Nm, your loyalty is to be commended and to understand where some of you are coming from, this is a very fullfilling read:

The hurdles Forrest experienced were tenfould what NM has experienced. Debt/infrastructure/timing, were all against him yet he transformed a minnow into becoming a goliath.
I think if NM has the resilience then he 'could' pull this off.
But perhaps a little voice is whispering to him, too: time is more precious than money.............sell! Nick is not getting any younger.
If SOLG goes it 'alone' and achieves half of what fortescue achieved, there could possibly be the makings of a billionaire on this very board, right now in 2030!!!

Stocky the concern I have is this:
NM's latest conversations with the media suggests he is progressing talks with FNV for (atleast) $1Bn (hopefully and eventually for the remainder as well).
Now this cannot sit well with NCM or BHP, because if the FNV deal is ratified, any future buyer of solg OR JV with solg will have this 'complexity' bolted onto it. Throwing in the CGP debacle, just makes it even messier.
So I am wondering how BHP/NCM are going to play it.....come the 15th.

The referendum issue is behind us. Extant approvals will no longer be allowed to be challenged, only future ones.
As has been said before this standstill agreement coming to an end in 26 days time will stir the 'sludge' and make waves.....one way or another. Thank god!
