There must also be a question mark over the value of the fracking assets at the moment. Maybe this will sort itself out when the oil price settles a bit more.
The market does not understand this share or what the company does, and anything with e word 'Energy' in the name is anathema at the moment. Do not assume that the market is necessarily an 'intelligent' creature though it may be 'clever'
it seems that a backup power station at Peterhead has failed; perhaps this might cause ALK to have extra business!
It seems that the two nuclear power stations that are down for repair may not be able to come back online at full power as they have a problem with cracks in vital places. That plus Didcot bodes well for Alkane.
Not sure how much ALK will profit from the recent fire at Didcot power station. if at all?
maybe this share needs a bit of cold weather to get it going the other way?
Perhaps one of you clever chaps or chapesses could answer a teensy little query of mine, please; assuming for the moment that the coming winter is very mild, where does Alkane get its profit from? I understand that they get income from being on standby from National Grid, but beyond that, what other sources are there?
does anyone know anything about contacts between Xaar and Nanoco? The latter are developing photovoltaic materials which can be printed direct onto windows to turn them into solar cells.
Alkane's ability to generate income from gas depends on the needs of the electricity industry, largely at time of high consumption. Thus it is always dependant on some other organization to generate income and profits. Would it not be better to convert this gas into a much higher value form, like aircraft fuel or high value end chemicals instead. Such is now being done with the gas being burned off some fracking sites in the US. Not the huge sites, but small scale stuff, using the equipment and processes developed by Velocys. One examppe in UK is the use of gas from old rubbish dumps to produce fuel for BA. Just a thought.
Well, thank you for that Woolyone. The quicker that the backlog clears the happier I will be. But, all in all a blue day so a happier bunny than a couple fo days ago.
OK, whose got their foot on the break then? This share is trying to break out but someone keeps slapping it down. Enough is enough, let this bird fly if it wants to!
According to the RNS, Henderson are up to just over 22% share ownership. Is this usual or could they be buying for someone with a takeover in mind? Any thoughts?
I have asked ALK whether there might be a useful synergy with VLS who produce liquids from flared off and other gases (and therefore wasted) to make such things as aviation fuel and chemical products. The point being that their producing plants are quite small scale and might enable ALK to move away from depending on the irregular needs of the elecricity industry for their electricity. Just a thought
Thank you, I will aks them.
How long does an old mine give off methane?
If Scotland votes yes and Diageo does stay, what are the shares actually gonna be worth given that there is no Scots currency and taxes will probably have to increase substantially.
Today's revaluation of assets presents a much more rosy picture of the state of the company, but it uses a different methodology to do the calculation. Is this just a fiddle or realistic?
Well, something seems to have got this share on the move, though the volumes are minimal.
This seems such a nice little share and company that one woders if it will not be gobbled up by one of the big boys. Any thoughts?
How long do they have to keep trying? Whichever, isnt this a good buying opportunity for BBY shares?
