TheEconomist, I recently sunk £55K into ARB and £200K into COINXBE bitcoin tracker (just before it became illegal to buy in the UK but still OK to hold). I have just over a million in cash savings (mainly in savings bonds) plus a house with no mortgage. Cash savings mainly from selling BTC after 20X gain in 2017. I am 66 and retired. I just dont bother with pensions. My cash etc will cover me until I drop. Loads of international travel to do. ARB and COINXBE will compensate me for inflation eating into my savings.
Notready, i cashed out most of my BTC at the end of 2017. I paid all due CGT and still made a million net. Just sold the remainder so have more CGT to pay this tax year. I have made a big gain on CONXBE bitcoin tracker and hopefully ARB but I am holding onto those.
petethefeet1, it could work out well but dont stake your house on it.
Also scary spread.
CLP may work out well and you may make a ton of money. But it is a punt with about half a dozen risk factors, one being the court case and another being the price of bitcoin. Too many variables for me. Arguablying I could have put a bit of money in for a small punt but I am already well covered in the bitcoin space with less risk (ARB and COINXBE).
CLP may well do well in the long run but generally it has a horrible spread curently 14%.
Tommythedog just do some googling or twittering, here for example. https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-s-biggest-mining-pool-may-be-behind-the-btc-price-drop-but-buyers-stepped-in
suppersaints66: That is big money. I broke every conventional financial rule in December 2016. Years ago I switched my company pensions to a SIPP, invested in just 2 high risk foreign mining companies in the SIPP, cashed out my SIPP as a lump sum, spent it all on bitcoin, buy end of 2018 I had made 20X gain (a million quid plus) so I cashed out. A few weeks ago I cashed out 280K of bitcoin I still had. So I have made my money, i just have £200K in COINXBE and £55K in ARB to compensate inflation eating away to over a million in cash accounts (mainly in savings bonds).
Steve888 one guy on ARB has jumped in. It was tempting for me but I am not buying for now but will see how things develop.
Steve888, CLP has been discussed there as well. In fact I first heard of CLP this morning when someone started a thread on CLP on the ARB board. It then started a debte on whether CLP was more worthy than ARB.
