850p is simply unrealistic. It values the company way too high for any sane company to buy.
As Sheltie says there has been no bid and there may be no bid.
Regardless of what shameless rampists may try and convince you of, this is not a one way bet.
We may make a profit this month but it may not be until years in the future.
Tread with caution.

I think directors will be under some form of buy / sell restrictions
ML and co are not directors and may not be subject to the same restrictions institutional investors are.
Previously ML and wife only had to declare if they passed specific thresholds and could sell down to them without notifying.
That may still be the case.

I would suggest what we have is a sudden rise due to the TB news followed by the reality that the offer price is all but baked in and the offer hasn't and may not ever materialise.

Sheltie, that was my point. The market cap is inflated due to the current excitement built in. Market makers are playing the long game here and so are any potential buyers. If this goes over £6 I'm happy and out. It could just as easily slide back to mid £3 level - as I said yesterday - where, in this economic climate it probably belongs.

If you read the article you see the amount TB had in mind is already less than DTs market cap so there's a good chance this will fizzle out.

To add to Sheltie's note, I notice that the SP is rising atm but in the absence of a bid by Sept 12th my feeling is this will slip back as in previous excitements after trading updates. This is not a one way bet. Longer term it should be fine but with the present economic climate even with a good trading update, in the absence of a bid we could be looking at £4 or less by end September. Not what I want to happen but with the MM manipulation and overexuberance of some PIs this stock is liable to wild swings due to lack of free stock. atb, good luck.

Not sure how long you've been around this board but apart from an all too brief hiatus when he skipped onto a Telegram DT board no amount of pointing out the bleeding obvious has any effect on kerbing his enthusiasm. Good comedy value as long as you don't get sucked into the hype. Can seriously damage your wealth.

If an agreed or otherwise bid doesn't materialise from Thoma Bravo, and that isn't what I want, what should the price be? Given update in September will this slide back to £4 or less? My feeling is it would.

Charles, my thoughts on Dark have already been stated. I have nothing new to add atm. I try to ignore the hype and 'what ifs'. What will happen will happen when it happens. I also try add value by not clouding peoples judgement with fantastical stretches of credibility.

Going private would suit UK Govt. Being taken over by US entity would not be preferred option and would at the very least be scrutinized.

I think DT would definitely benefit from being taken private again and TB would no doubt be looking at a price where they could walk away within four or five years with a healthy return. The directors would also benefit from making a bundle on their shares and being handed new ones. The company would also benefit from divesting itself of ML and wife (and others) holding a sizeable chunk that hangs over them today. For that reason I doubt TB will be looking at more than £6.50. I doubt there will be a friendly offer for a week or so.
