LONDON MARKET OPEN: US Fed Stuffs Santa Rally Down The Chimney

LONDON (Alliance News) - A Grinch-ey Fed all but ended hopes for a Santa rally, as stocks in Asia and Europe on Thursday followed Wall Street lower following a more hawkish than expected outlook on US interest rates.
The FTSE 100 was down a sharp 111.39 points, or 1.7%, at 6,654.55, while the FTSE 250 tumbled 346.49 points, or 2.0%, to 17,258.01. The AIM All-Share was down 1.0% at 848.31.
The Cboe UK 100 was down 2.1% at 11,279.70, while the Cboe UK 250 was 1.8% lower at 15,422.84 and the Cboe UK Small Companies down 0.1% at 10,824.23.
In mainland Europe, the CAC 40 in Paris was down 1.5% while the DAX 30 in Frankfurt was down 1.4%.
