I personally believe that HG-CT-1 is selectively eradicating the FLT3 positive pool of AML blasts and leukaemic stem/progenitor cells without dramatically damaging normal haematopoetic tissue such that normal bone marrow function is recoverable without a bone marrow transplant. There is a huge difference in the expression level and density of expression in FLT3+ve Blasts and progenitors compared to normal haematopoetic tissue - this differential allows a therapeutic window. If that is the case (and it was the case in the mouse model) then HG-CT-1 and CDX will respresent a paradigm shift in the standard of care in AML. Curative is a strong word in AML but that word will start to be banded about with patients passing 12M point - what pharma will be trying to assess is whether that signal holds across dose levels and patient populations - if it does then both HgCt-1 and CDX are very valuable.
