Sorry to sound a little dumb, but is EZY now listed on the FTSE 100? If not, when does this occur? If so, has anyone seen an increase in the volume of shares being bought/sold? Thanks. Happy Friday!!

Ditto @Learningtoinvest. God knows what macroeconomic challenges are around the corner, but EZY now seems well-placed and will hopefully demonstrate some resilience. As they enter the FTSE 100, I'm sure the big players will begin to take notice of EZY and begin to add it to their portfolios, especially at its current SP. There are so many listed companies that aren't paying dividends, have greater risk and exposure to political/economic changes, and won't have a robust balance sheet like EZY. This should, hopefully, begin to "take off" in the medium term. Have a great day everyone.

@Sundezena, and anyone else for that matter. I'm not bothered about Qube shorting EZY, it happens all the time with any stock. However, I'm curious to know, how long do institutions like this, keep this position open? Does it cost them money or does it only become "real" when they close their position? Nutjob, well as one reporter has 147 passengers on board the flight and another reports there being over 150, I'm guessing having two colleagues on the plane would probably make me better informed than them. Glad to hear you've grown up and decided to move on from posting rubbish here... though the proof is in the pudding.

Nutjob... I had 2 colleagues on that flight. I can categorically state that nobody was terrified!! It's absolute bull5h1t news. Most passengers didn't even realise there had been an incident, while a couple of people said they thought they were a little low, but that was after the go-around.

I agree @CWWX... I don't think we will see a sudden increase in sp (though it would be nice). I'd imagine the big institution will increase their exposure in EZY gradually, as confidence in the stock returns (and as the dividend increases). Being back in the big pond can, hopefully, only be a good thing for the sp, though probably not as immediate as we'd all like.

Relatively new to this ol' share malarky. My portfolio is mainly BP with a small amount in Easy. Obviously Qube have reasons to short EasyJet, but I'm struggling to see what, with a large research and analyst team, they see in the stock to short it. I've done my own research and can't see any rationale to have this position, especially as we now move into spring/summer when all airlines get busy and start making serious cash. Can anyone try and explain what they see that most of us mere mortals don't? Cheers

@ Giggey ... my thoughts too... IAG are always banded around but they are saddled with huge debt, so doubt they could raise the capital to acquire EasyJet. Can't see many others in the aviation sector that have that type of cash or access to it (with current interest rates as they stand) to make a formal and realistic bid. I wouldn't be surprised if EasyJet don't build up a war chest and either significantly increase dividends or make a bid for a competitor, like Wizz. Maybe someone here on the forum knows otherwise.

I see people are asking when a bid could materialise, but realistically, who has the cash/balance sheet to make a substantial bid for EasyJet. Yes, the company currently appears excellent value, but that's reflected across the FTSE. The business looks in excellent shape. It would surely take a sizable bid for the company, but who has that cash floating around, especially post pandemic. Could EasyJet not be the one to make a bid for a competitor? Keen to gather thoughts on this. Ta

@idandy ... by all accounts, they are still negotiating. Unions are holding out for a better deal. Word is that EasyJet have do not have a desire for any protracted negotiations, especially if the Unions threaten a "walk out" (obviously). So, hopefully, this will be all resolved in the next few weeks. They have stopped 12/12 contracts and only offer new Cabin Crew 10/12 so gives them greater flexibility during the quieter winter period.

All indications suggest that EasyJet will increase the offer. They also ended offering new employees 12/12 contracts to give greater flexibility during the "quieter" months.

Its just a cold, mild flu at worse. Lemsip, a couple of early nights and plenty of water should do the trick. But if booster number 8 makes you feel any better, book in at a local GP Surgery (if you can get an appointment) :-)

Happy New Year all... wife works on the airline and said that throughout the Christmas period, pretty much every flight has been full. Strong sales with the onboard services too. Still recruiting extra staff and no signs of a letup in demand. Price definitely doesn't reflect the strong balance sheet and current travel demand in 2024. Hopefully, with interest rates steady and a little more confidence in the economy, we should see an uptick in the SP. Fingers crossed.

No substantive rumours of a takeover. IAG is always muted as a potential but I can't see that having the legs... they are up to their necks in debt. I'd be happier if EasyJet were more hawkish in their approach and became the hunter rather than the hunted.

What an absolute 5hit show. Not wanting to repeat the same messages about record profits etc, the fact that this stock continues its downward trajectory is ridiculous. I'm scratching my head looking at the ticker continuing to fall. Are we missing something?

Gingy, try holding EasyJet. Record profits and volume of passengers. Their package holiday business is flying (excuse the pun). They have a cash surplus. Oil is still relatively cheap. Crap weather in the UK. Huge appetite for travel despite high interest rates. Yet their price is lower than what it was straight after the pandemic with limited passengers and no staff. The markets are all over the place at the moment.

I agree completely Nuri... its crazy times. The price doesn't reflect the current position of the business. With oil at $84pb, record profits, cash surplus, and strong forecast, it also seems surreal. I'm no expert and don't have zillions invested but even simple GCSE economics would suggest the share price should be higher than what it is.

As for Nutjob bleating on about poor reviews and negative customer satisfaction, has he not read Ryanairs horrific reviews, yet their sp still remains strong!!! Clearly he has no idea!!!

IMO, for what it's worth, if the price continues its current downward trajectory, and with amazing results just in and forecast, oil still at $85pb and cash in the bank, then EasyJet are sitting pretty for another attempted takeover. The UK LSE very soft at the moment compared to other markets therefore there is a lot of value to be had in UK companies. The current price just doesn't reflect the state if the business at the moment, which is very frustrating.
