Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
CM/All.....was unable to attend (proper work got in the way) do we know if a video will be posted? Ta
You make a good point about the last time we SP rose quickly (May/June 2018) was due to mainstream media coverage.
One of the topics that helped the SP was about moving from AIM to Main Market, do we think that with the GALP news that makes that a possibility now? When (not if) the other boxes (EIA, DFS, etc) boxes are ticked, will a main listing be the way forward?
The GALP deal reminds me of Dragons Den in some aspects. DA has pitched to the Dragon a good idea that will work without support, but has convinced a Dragon take only a minority stake (not given up 30/40/50%) just 10%.
Plus agreed for the Dragon to take 1/2 the product (leaving capacity to sell to others) but also has got the Dragon and their contacts to be a major supporter for making sure the product gets developed, including regulatory approval.
Evan Davies would have this as one of those suspense hanging deals to end the show/series with :-)
Thanks O
Ignoring the other Energy companies and asset managers, what about;
Parpública - Participações Públicas
Number of voting rights: 62,021,340
% of voting rights: 7.48%
Parpública is a vehicle for the Portuguese state’s equity holdings in a number of companies.
So Port State now has an interest in SAV. What's not to like about this. Happy Days.
Two items from me.
1) This investment is only in the MdB Subsidiary, not SAV as a whole which means any Moz gain is not being shared with GALP.
2) I would have thought having GALP assist with Cap Ex funding, we should be able to leverage of their size to get the funding required at a decent price.
A massive day for SAV LTH in my opinion.
CM are you suggesting Essex is full of middle age men giving up the BMW 3 series (often convertibles) for the Tesla Model 3 instead :-)
If so, guilty as charged in my case.
Hi SIU,
Here's a link regarding the UK's (if not World's) first dedicated EV Charging Forecourt that opened early December. The Company behind this are planning 100+ of them in the coming years. It's an amazing facility (only about 20 miles from me so have already visited to charge the Model 3). With these coming around the country it removes any range anxiety or concern that happens at moment when going to charge, that the one or two charging points at most locations will be in use or out of order when you need one.

Some nice rises in last few weeks.
Best wishes to all on this SAV board for 2021.
4.5 would be nice, gives a round 100% year on year rise.
I can see the SP hitting 5p by end of the year :-)
Totally agree, I'm sure there's rules about what you say in a Webinar. O/T, etc will need to be via a RNS, even any 'indications as to what's happening' . The market and regulators get upset if you don't use formal communication.
Unless you want DA to do a Gerald Ratner :-)
For the record I'm not comparing SAV to a Prawn Sandwich from M&S (anyone under 40 might want to google this one)
Having read the Green and Smart mining presentation, I see what SAV are proposing is a very high standard in mining, that fully recognises the need to embrace environmental concerns and not dismiss them.
With proper planning and engagement, the Post-mining landscape can look as good as it is now but hopefully with the added benefit of having Environmental based attractions (i.e leisure activities, painting/art spots, etc) that welcome many more to the area and be a magnet for investment long after SAV has left.
My wife has just taken delivery on her 2nd Nissan Leaf (replacing one she got early 2018) leasing again, for about £290 per month (no deposit) allowing 10,000 miles per year (12p per mile after) and with being on a overnight electric rate of 5p KWH. So about 1.2p per mile to charge.
The total cost for per year is about £3,600 or 36p per mile for car, tax, breakdown, warranty & fuel. Plus if driving into London no CC. Car comes with all the expected gadgets (car play, cameras, lane warning, etc)
Not sure if there many brand new cars at that spec you can own and run for 36p a mile. My Tesla Model 3 works out about 66p per mile, but then I'm middle aged and I've paid a premium to go for the Tesla.
The prices will only come down as more are sold.
"city saying...when the CEO grows a beard, go short"......Better start going short on Twitter shares then.
A mining exploration company with zero revenue whilst in PFS/DFS stages of projects, this is outrageous how can we let it be.
I think the RNS gives a perfectly valid reason for the sale. Theres very few opportunities for BoD members to do any personal dealing.
I know the BoD members get a very good remuneration package, they did though also take 20% scary cut at the start of COVID.
In the case of DA, it states a very valid reason and if supporting another hard hit business requires the releasing of equity from other forms, in this case selling shares in another company, then that seems appropriate/sensible to me.
Had DA not taken the 20% cut would there had been a need to sell? But then again, there would have been complaints he'd not done anything on the salary side as a result of COVID.
20 Nov 2020: Fitch Ratings has affirmed Portugal's Long-Term Foreign-Currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) at 'BBB'. The Outlook is Stable. In other words, 2 above Junk bond. Port Gov will need the money Li mining and a refinery would give them.
If the Port Gov pushes the SAV process into the long grass, this would have a lasting damage on anyone wanting to look at Li Mining in Port. Is this something Port can afford?
This said, all must be done to make sure any mining not just meets the ESG standards but where possible exceeds them. I think the SAV application process will demonstrate that this can be done .
Reading that the budget was approved but with abstentions from the PEV members, who also are those members who are on the committee that requested this change to the budget? Seems odd to abstain if a budget included an item that would put a halt to mining?
So was the committee request included in the final budget approval, or was it only approved at a committee stage but then rejected in the final budget?
GM announced today that it dropped out of litigation the Trump administration launched against California over the state’s effort to implement its own more stringent emission regulations on the auto industry.
“We believe the ambitious electrification goals of the President-elect, California, and General Motors are aligned, to address climate change by drastically reducing automobile emissions. We are confident that the Biden Administration, California, and the U.S. auto industry, which supports 10.3 million jobs, can collaboratively find the pathway that will deliver an all-electric future. To better foster the necessary dialogue, we are immediately withdrawing from the preemption litigation and inviting other automakers to join us.”
If the US is to start embracing the need for EV's in the same way the EU has, this will surely start a race to secure Li at source. I'm not suggesting GM will be looking at MdB, but it means that there will be many more players looking at limited availability material. If EU wants to ramp up EV ownership and meet it's targets it must look at the Li assets it has and strongly push to get these mines into service ASAP.
For the Port Government this must be a once in a lifetime opportunity to raise some serious money both now and in royalties in future years similar to the 3G network auction back in early 2000's
Even Jenny the interviewer had to tell the environmental campaigner to stop talking and allow DA the chance to reply.
DA was not all perfect, but held his own in my honest opinion. The environmental campaigner was not only negative on MdB but EVs as a whole.
I accept EV do still have an environmental impact, but this can be reduced.
For example a new EV charging Forecourt station will be opening near Chelmsford soon with 24 rapid chargers (plus lower rate ones). The company behind this have also purchased a solar farm that will produce the same level of power the EV points will distribute.
In addition batteries are being installed on the EV forecourt site to allow for power storage, etc.
This will be a Net zero from 2020 EV project, so an argument back to the environmental campaigners.
Back to MdB, it still is one of very few sizeable/affordable Li projects that could be up and running in the EU in the near future. If the EU is serious about having as many elements of an EV sourced and built in the EU, MdB must be part of the overall plan.
