"The Transformational Power of Innovation
A common theme throughout the three events was the importance of innovation to ensure a smooth transition and the immense opportunities that innovation has to offer. The EU must mobilize its innovative potential if the sustainability transformation is to be fair and effective. This means an enabling policy framework so that the EU is not left behind on the journey to more sustainable agriculture.
At Corteva, we are committed to playing our part. We are working to create solutions to some of agriculture’s most pressing challenges through our capacity to innovate, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our operations, and promoting biodiversity. Last year, we confirmed our new sustainability and R&D commitments: Every new solution from our pipeline must meet our sustainability criteria by 2025. Along with this commitment, our company is increasing its R&D investment to eight percent of annual net sales by 2025.
Agriculture at a Crossroads
We are at a crucial turning point with the European elections coming up this year, the strategic dialogue on agriculture due to be launched, the strategic autonomy initiative, and the latest policy initiatives.
The world and Europe are not as they were when the Green Deal was launched. While the ambition and intent of the green transition remains, the tools to achieve the solutions need to be reassessed in the context of the changing geopolitical landscape and fragile food security.
As always, we operate in a spirit of openness and collaboration, ready to work with all stakeholders to create a greener, food-secure future that benefits us all. I am proud of Corteva's role in hosting these collaborative circular conversations and see its conclusion, in many ways, as only the beginning. The next steps are to ensure this dialogue reaches member state levels.
Behind the success of this series is its participants, and we were fortunate to have exceptional panelists, audience members, and partners, the FT Live. Thank you for your time, expertise, and energy, which made this series a resounding success. Together, we are better equipped to rise to the challenges we face as we transition. Together, we are growing for good"
