These solar sensors for LoRa and BLE can work with mains power and AA batteries also but supercaps provide greater range of distance application and lower recycling.

James, if you do get to Berlin someone else to check out is E-Peas, booth N10. They make energy harvesting sensors with caps for LoRa and BLE. By looks of it, AK is appearing only for his presentation on this application, CPX are not exhibiting.
