I don't think big discounts are good thing but many trusts are running at historically big discounts and this one is on a small premium so it is a bit of an outlier due to it's performance as you said. Don't get me wrong I really like this trust but for right now did not add any more shares as my first buy was 475p so it has done really well since then.
I did hold the underperforming SCIN before the merger with JP Morgan some years ago but I sold out before the announcement and missed out on a lot more of these shares at a much better price than I have now !
The CEO ones are options bought from a nice cash bonus given for turning up to work.
Chairwoman purchase was from her own money.
Still all amounts to a pimple on a bees dick, it will take billions to move this dog up.
What a shocking collapse, all the commentators seem to think results are good ! what the hell would have happened if the results were bad. Maybe a low ball bid from a competitor will just put this out of it's misery and we can all move on.
The dividends have been set at a fixed amount per share (235p), so the current yield is just under 10% yield per share. Buying back shares with such a high dividend burden makes more sense than redeeming bonds unless any are over 10% yield (not sure but unlikely given the low interest rates for the last 15 years). The current low valuation also makes it seem a good idea.
Only good thing about PRU as far as I am concerned is it demerged Jackson at $25 and I bought a load more of them up to $36 reducing my PRU holding a bit. Jackson shows me 64% profit not including divs either which are pretty significant. PRU is -38% and pathetic divs. The far east and Africa growth plan has yet to bear suffering shareholders any fruit.
BAT is not really a UK share it just has it’s primary listing here. It already has a US listing as BTI in the states, if it de listed here and just went for US I don’t see how it changes the business. Altria (mo) is down 3% stateside today as well nothing to do with UK.
