good to see some big ish buys today. I'm holding 3,250 shares in LVD at the moment, a lot of ASG (long term punt on a purchase in full by Neo), in and out on AV. and XTA

Until the results are out (or some of the information in them gets out early) I don't think we'll see much movement. They've stayed around the 100p mark for a while now, up and then down. Results we want to see are those to meet the analysts expectations. So we are looking for revenue of £246m and profit of £27m. First half of 2008 was £116m in revenues, so we want to see £130m in the second half. At 31st October revenues for the 10 months were up 26% which puts them around about £234m.

I'd like to think that if the results are as they forecast back in November that we'll see a steady rise over the next couple of weeks. If we reach 120p before results I think that would be very encouraging.

Interesting news from Lavendon today. Cycladic Captial (an investment management firm focused on fundamental value investment strategies) on 0th Feb increased their holding from 1.8m to 2.36m shares, representing 5.12% of the issued share capital. http://www.lavendongroup.com/news-item?item=74249249425830 Feeling very optimistic about this one. IMHO I think they have been oversold and are now under priced. Their current market cap is only £46m, this is only half of what they paid for DK Rental last year which they did in cash!

Statement from Lavendon on 13th November was very positive and no statement since. Panmure Gordon continue to give a Buy recommendation on Lavendon which is encouraging.

Profit warning from Speedy Hire a couple of weeks ago caused the initial drop after they said revenues collpased in the last 8 weeks of 2008. Lavendon reported revenues up 36% 10 months to 31st October but worry is they will have been affected the same. Personally I don't think so, Lavendon don't have exposure to all of the same markets as Speedy Hire and are focused on more than just construction projects. Results due 3rd March and I expect them to bounce up as an expected drop if profits appears to now be priced in. I'm holding 3,000 shares so really hope they bounce up to 200p or 250p.

2 days of SP increase without any news. Could this be news of extra funding on its way perhaps to fill the gap announced on 27th March?

Looks like the CCJ was an early warning given this morning's announcement. The need to raise further funding "immediately" coupled with the failure to pay a £5k bill which went to small claims doesn't bode well. Still a solid business at it's core, as the 112pct increase in revenues shows, but the massive debt Avanti Screenmedia has been saddled with after the demerger from Avanti Communications is really hurting the business. One of the existing large investors will come up with the extra funding needed but this will likely be by way of further dilution of the issued share capital.

Rather worrying that Avanti Screenmedia had a CCJ registered against them on 3rd March for £5,199 via Brighton Court. This takes their CCJ total to 3, 1 of which was settled earlier this year.

Website was redesigned towards the end of last year. Although investor section remains on the old design and is never updated. Shares are currently trading, suspension was lifted Friday 4th.

I worry you may be right. A Media and Satellite company as a single unit would make sense so why demerge them? Perhaps because the under performing media business was preventing the satellite business from raising the funds it needed. That said the satellite business (AVN) hasn't done brilliantly since the dermerger. I still think that ASG is one to hold and to sell quickly when the price rises, its sure to fall back down again afterwards!

My personal opinion is that the accounts need to be seen in relation to what has happened in the last year with Avanti. They demerged their satellite and media companies which looks to have not only been a very costly exercise (requiring the write off of a substantial inter company loan - benefiting Avanti Comunications and not Avanti Screenmedia) but has also kept the board occupied with matters other than ASG profitability. This has hit the accounts in terms of headline turnover and profits. With the demerger out of the way and new management in place I think Avanti have great potential. They are definitely a high risk hold and those who follow ASG will also be aware that their SP is extremely volatile. However I think they have a good foundation in place and should do well if they can consistently win new contracts in 2008 (on less onerous terms than some of their older contracts) and get and keep some positive news flow. The above is only my opinion, I would welcome anyone else's view.

Does anyone know when we can expect announcements today from ASG on their overdue accounts? My understanding is that the suspension is simply because ASG broke AIM rules and didn't submit audited accounts on time. My worry is there is a more sinister reason for filing late other than simply being disorganised since the demerger. I've sent 2 emails to them recently requesting information about increased PR activity and why the investment section on their website hasn't been updated since September and have received no reply. What is everyone else's take on this shares current volatility and current AIM suspension?

Results from Avanti Screenmedia look like they'll be released on Thursday 6th December. SP dropped off a bit this morning but I think this was mainly the MMs creating some panic selling to fill some large orders.

There is a lot of positive news to come this week, todays movement supports this. Avanti Screenmedia results will be out later this week, a little later than originally planned. I agree with Uriney that a short term target of 12.50 is not going to be a problem. I'm sure it will push past this and on to 15p.
