Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Tullow and Premier and other small oilers are much more volatile than BP and Shell. People talk about conspiracies far too much on thus board. There’s only so much the MM’s can do, the drop is down to lots of share holders selling, it’s not rocket science.
Tullow isn’t struggling. If you look at the SP performance graphs for the last 3 months for Tullow and pretty much every other oil company the shapes are almost identical. Tullow hasn’t really outperformed or underperformed regardless of its individual RNS updates or market days etc. As vaccines have arrived so has hope and the oiler sp’s across the market have risen in line with the poo rise. I would suggest every oiler has room to jump up but Tullows rises (and falls) are more spectacular than most because of the % of shares shorted so this could jump dramatically at any point. The balance is slowly tipping in Tullows favour as it moves further and further away from the risk of folding. If you picked these up anywhere below 27p I think you picked very well indeed. (IMO) Good luck all holders today :)
Looks like the MM’s are trying to encourage weak Tullow holders to part with shares this morning. BP and Shell are flying without the burden of so many shorting. Hold firm, this will rise later and finish up (imop)
.
Yep very difficult to call where this will end up at close. Great to see a rise today though, hoping it will hold and not do the slow drift. All UK oil companies reacting very similarly at the moment, unsurprisingly. GLA :)
Welcome back Happy! You’ve been missed.......great genuine first post back from suspension. I had my post deleted today. It was my first experience of this. I’m not sure what I said that was offensive or misleading but I feel like part of my life has been erased. Strange :)
I waited until 16:29:30 to buy 15,000 shares at 29.60 as it looked to have stabilised at around that number. 5 mins later its down at 28.98. I know its not a huge amount but I feel a little cheated having waited the whole day to buy at what I felt was the right price. I have realised I have a love/hate relationship with Tullow! Getting close to pulling out everything now and taking what profit is left.
Seems fairly common to have a slide on Friday afternoon as people slice or dice to hedge their bets just incase something negative happens over the weekend. I think we are more strongly linked to the price of oil than ever. We could up, down and around this SP for a little while now.
‘Happy’ you insult every investor on here and you do yourself no favours. Yesterday you took out a ‘small short’. Of course you are negative, of course you have doubts, you are now betting on a company failing to make yourself some money. ‘A dull presentation’? Be up front, you are shorting and you need the price to come down.
I think we are so used to seeing the SP hit with the volatility of the last 10 months people are naturally a bit jittery today. However the RNS is a very encouraging taster ahead of more detail later this morning. Brent is UP again this morning. That in itself will mean an SP increase. Desperate shorters on here and more saddening now desperate deramping profit takers from yesterday who are now regretting selling up. They are desperate to get back in and have that sinking feeling because the gamble didn’t work.
Serious investors haven't even come back into this yet. Tomorrow will be a key day for getting the big boys back on board. There are still 8% or so shorts to close on this before they loose too much money or loose their profit made so far. We are only just seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for oil. This rise today is more about vaccinations and the optimism returning to oilers in general. Every single oil company has the same shape over the last 6 months. They are all up at the moment. Tomorrow however is unique to Tullow and we should see another rise assuming Rahul has something up his sleeve. I believe he has. He couldn't have times this better! I am holding on to every share until we get past 50p and then it will be even harder to part with them.
