The SP still isn't back to the level immediately before the pandemic hit (circa 155-175p), so that for me is a minimum target, which now looks very achievable, and I believe CARD has potential for more.

Tempting as it is to take some profit now, especially for my son's ISA, I'm still holding firm despite my exposure as it looks like we're genuinely now within touching distance after 4 years.

Our patience with CARD will be rewarded.

It is something different, but without media exposure, I don't see people specifically going to Just Eat to order something from a limited Card Factory selection. It's not a game changer for me, but I'll happily be proven wrong.

The name Card Factory is dull and dreary to consumers who use Moonpig and Funky Pigeon. It just doesn't have the same sex appeal and thanks to TV ad campaigns the names Moonpig and Funky Pigeon are absolutely household names. These people are not using a search engine for a greetings card, they are seaching for Moonpig or Funky Pigeon or going straight to the Moonpig and Funky Pigeon websites, such has been the power of their marketing.

Card Factory needs an additional sexy brand to capture more of Moonpig's and Funky Pigeon's market.

I've been holding for over 4 years for myself and my teenage son. We've done well, but we could be doing better if Card Factory took the blinkers off.

After the drop in the last week I have been thinking on whether it's time to take profit on CARD, but the drop over the past week looks like a blip and a market overreaction to me. My target of 150p remains, but I think an SP towards 200p is a genuine possibility, but who knows when!

I still say that CARD needs a 'sexy' online brand to take more market share away from MOON and Funky Pigeon.

Are you saying that CARD income in HL accounts is not able to be invested until 11th July? I have a SIPP and ISA with HL and can see the CARD income as 'cash' in my account but not as funds to invest with.

On the eve of tomorrow's preliminary results you have to say that expectations appear to be somewhat mooted.

So will be get an SP boost on publication tomorrow or will we get a drop? Place your bets.

I have been invested here for 4 years now and I suspect patience is starting to run out with some/many shareholders. The language and tone of the RNS will be of particular importance tomorrow.

Wage growth is not an uncertainty, and it's not unique to CARD.

Indeed JJ, and many will be focusing on the dividend in the end of year results, which may hold the SP back for a while longer. Anyone know what the SP is now set at for Machin's bonus?

I wouldn't call 1p a share a fantastic dividend, but I'll take it (whenever it arrives in my HL account).

However, the wife's sharesave scheme matures on 1st Feb and we maxxed out to buy shares at 82p. Unlike many, we won't be offloading shares anytime soon though.

Interesting to see that MOON isn't having a trading update until 14th March.

It's the pessimistic forecasts for 2024 in the trading updates that too many are focusing on, and CARD have previous for downplaying excellent results. Looking back I'd say retail did far better than many predicted in 2023, and it wouldn't surprise me if 2024 is similar.

Let's be honest, the high street retail sector continues to get a bad press, which I suspect is one reason why the CARD sp isn't where we think it probably should be. Perhaps MOON is immune from this, as they're not on the high street?

Anyway, +3 years in and I'm a content to keep holding my CARD shares (and my teenage son's holding too). We will get to our personal target of 150p, and beyond (and before he takes control of his Junior ISA in 2025).

I have to agree with Alnwick, short termism is where many are at.

I could see the potential with CARD 3 years ago, and I'm in for the long haul.

Why take risks elsewhere?
