The world has woken up24 Mar 2022 08:29
to the fact we cannot do without oil and gas. That the green targets cannot be met. Electric cars are a great idea, but too expensive to buy for the average man in the street. The heat pumps are far too ineffective in cold weather (of which this country has plenty) and whilst wind farms may generate power, they are not only a major blot on the landscape compared to an oil site, they only work when it's windy! Oil is not just for power, there are 1000's of bi-products that we cannot do without. These activists are now on a back foot, people would rather have a reliable electricity and gas supply than have these people setting up their little camps in their neighbourhoods, blocking roads, creating inconvenience for people trying to do their jobs. Wressle may only be a small producer, but 800 bopd makes an awful lot of toothbrushes, coats millions of paracetomol tablets, toilet seats, linoleum and shampoo! Of course, the activists like Pete Hamilton don't use toilet seats, shampoo, combs, dentures, yet they do use bicycle tyres, cars and 100's of other items. Banners, caravans, mobile phones and cameras. The likes of Hamilton aren't doing what they do for the planet, they are doing it for personal gratification. They get talked about, they abuse people for a reaction, they cadge money from other misinformed believers.
The government are about turning now, these people are starting to get short thrift. West Newton was unanimously passed by the council, their decision on this will not be overturned by the objections of half a dozen protestors and a rather strange looking councillor.
Biscathorpe planning will be passed, it's potentially too big to be denied. West Newton will very likely prove itself as the largest gas discovery in the UK in half a century and Wressle will be shored up with the other zones to be exploited.
The days of the activist are numbered, they will be moved on or arrested. All they will have is the ability to post on bulletin boards where nobody will take any notice of their ramblings.
