Had a lot of DMs about what is happening in dTAO. In short, the subnet owner of SN3, 39 and 81 decided to cash out and leave. That's all.
It's no secret that I've had big blow outs with Sam before, and wasn't his biggest fan for many reasons. But just like the previous distributed pre-training subnet (Nous Research) left the eco-system, it looks like he may have been lured out as well, and this move seemed pre-meditated. Heyho...this is all part and parcel of permissionless systems.
Some of the things he said in his post about centralisation of control etc is something I've mentioned a few times as well. He's not wrong there, but it was painted in a bad way.
Const isn't some power-hungry troll reluctant to release control. His motives are genuine and pure. And when observing objectively, Const's actions have always been to help Bittensor. Nothing else. Yes we all may have various gripes and moans about certain dTAO designs, but that's just growth/teething issues.
Recently, Sam had some heat in his discord and started deleting some messages. Const then actually removed his ability to delete messages, they had a bit of a falling out, Const sold some alpha and that was it. So it seems he got a bit upset with this trivial drama and used it as an excuse...
Sure, portfolios are seeing red at the moment, but this is a good thing. Bittensor has had 2 or 3 pivotal moments in the past which led to tweaks and changes which helped grow the ecosystem better and stronger. One of which led to the creation of subnets.
The same will happen now. Governance will improve, subnet dynamics will improve and this will be a blip in the rear-view mirror before you know it.
Remember, subnets and teams come and go, Pareto distribution is everywhere and there are still at least 30 amazing subnets out there that deserve your attention and TAO. Don't waste this dip..."
