August 25th was the date of the RNS about increasing his holding and the price traded between 2.66 and 2.74.

Interesting, because the drop helps him rather than hinders him.

Is DK really into this for £1 billion at this stage ?

I did try to look for the exact figure earlier today, but could find it anywhere and didn't want to go through every RNS to work it out. I know he own's 211,011,551 shares, but not the cost per share.

Does anyone know the exact amount he is currently in for ?

£1 billion seems a little high as that would make his average £4.74 and I don't think he's ever purchased that high, I would guess that the figure is around half of that but either way it represents it significant portion of his net worth. But it would be good to know what his average is at this stage.

As @HeresHopin said what about all the shareholders that have been " mugged " off by the dispute.

The share price has dropped around 30 % since the CWU announced their intentions in August to pursue the company via industrial action. It's also likely that it will continue to drop more in the short-term.

Wiping £1.1 billion of the current market cap, and it's dropped £4.2 billion since the peak of June 2021.

The positive is that this will have to be resolved in the next 10 weeks or less, because legally the company can start firing anyone who partakes in industrial action beyond that date. Simply because the company has offered and proposed to settle this via ACAS.

There are justifiable arguments for all sides, plus it's well documented the pay package for current RMG employees pay package already exceeds that of its competitors by 40 % along with the fact it has much better terms and conditions, especially in regards to pension, sick pay, over-time, hours worked and multiple other areas.

Personally and judging by the picket lines, it's not the shareholders that are taking the proverbial p@@@, It's more the ego's of Terry, Dave, Simon and Keith who seems MIA along with Terry.

Maybe Dave and Simon should just have a straightener and settle it the old-fashioned way.

The employees could also say the same about the company, in terms of loss in revenue.

But the company can just move assets around, create a Phoenix and rise from the ashes.

One last point at what point does this become a lose - lose for the employees, especially in terms of pay.

They would probably settle for another 2-3 % increase in their salary.

They must already be close to losing the same amount they're striking for, simply by striking and continuing to strike.

Another 3 % in pay, will be equal to circa 1 weeks wages, yet how many full-day strikes have already taken place.

Some had a lot more than six, my local office in London is pretty big and they had more than six out yesterday afternoon, but I would guess 99 % were not present considering the size of the actual building.

So in that respect it was an unpaid holiday for most.

I also understand why the employees are striking, but the £758 million profit that Dave Ward keeps going on about during every TV interview, he needs to understand and come to terms with the fact that money has been spent, it's no longer available. Yes, the BOD mismanaged that situation and under normal circumstances the current CEO and Chairman would be held accountable, but in the midst of industrial action, neither will be replaced.

Lot's of disruption this weekend with the rail strikes on the eve of the Marathon.

Hopefully they work it all out and both sides come to compromise.

At least until the next time.

RMG should ask OfCOM to benchmark and test the company's cost efficiency against that of its competitors in the same and similar sectors.

Maybe then Ofcom will finally recognise and realise that delivering the USO and meeting the demands of the CWU actually becomes impossible, unprofitable and unworkable.

Either that or Ofcom needs to allow for further price increases, especially in stamp's so maybe then it does become workable.

GLS, is currently subsidising the USO in the present climate, imagine working for them and looking all these people on the picket line who are in many cases not fit for purpose especially in a changing, demanding and physically business environment.

Further strike action and RMG as a PLC will likely be reporting group losses for 2022-23, which does have a small positive in that they can claim back losses on the tax paid in the last couple of years. Long-term it will all come out in the wash.

Looking at the pictures of picket lines over the last couple of day's it's no wonder the company wants to introduce " light duties " for the over 55's. 20 % of the current workforce were still off-sick at the beginning of 2022 and when you have a geriatric workforce doing what is a physical job it's easy to see why they're falling apart physically.

Of the 20 % on " sick leave ", guaranteed the highest proportion of those will be in the over 55 category. I'm actually surprised the CWU didn't have the St John's Ambulance on standby during the strikes, just in case any of you kicked the bucket, but then again, many of them will have years of experience standing around doing nothing.

I just scanned through the pictures uploaded to social media to get an idea of numbers of the picket lines, it 'seems like at least 80 % used the last 2 days as an unpaid holiday rather than standing and showing camaraderie with their colleagues.

I hope all the RMG employees who post on here stood firm on the line for BOTH of the last two strike days.

As others have said, eventually people will start looking out and protecting themselves and then it all falls down, it will likely start first thing tomorrow morning when they all return to work, looking to book as much over-time and ghost hours as possible.

To answer your question, how the company as distributed the £758 million profit was not right, and to be honest as a shareholder the dividend was irrelevant to me. The share price dropped by the same price they paid out the day it was issued and I re-invested my dividend, so the company gave a shareholder like me nothing in real terms. I would quite happily give it back as long as the share price went up by the same amount.

The £200 million share buy back should never have occurred and it should have been distributed to the employees.

As to your other points, there is a reason why I quit the 9-5 life and working as an employee and truthfully, I would never work for someone else or return to that lifestyle ever again. Although if you're in that working environment you give yourself a much better chance of getting ahead by going on training courses and attaining relevant qualification's and certifications in your chosen field.

At the end of the day if there are limited opportunities at one company, if you have a specific skill-set there will always be other options and demand for that skill-set elsewhere, either at another company in the same demographic, or alternatively in a different capacity as a self-employed contractor or whatever.

If employees are working for a company and are being offered crumbs and / or are settling for those crumbs, whilst the higher up's are eating the rest of the loaf, is that really solely the employers fault?

The key is to make yourself hard to replace, and that's why the CWU is so powerful, because individually anyone is replaceable, but as a united force they can't replace 100,000 of you over-night.

There is a story for sides here, but what is going on right is helping no one and both sides are equally to blame for that.

The shareholders are actually the innocents in all of this. The BOD of directors decided on how the fund's were distributed and employees via the Union are the one's who have decided to retaliate by striking

Seriously, if people want a pay-rise and better working conditions if real ****ing easy, simply go on some training courses and work your way up the ladder.

People who stay in the same job for years and decades are way too comfortable and complacent in that role for their own good. They actually kid themselves at the end of it that they 10-15-20 years actual experience, when in actuality it 5-12 months experience and 5-10-15-20-25-30 years doing the same **** on a different day.

Any new job a person takes on will have a learning curve, but a Postie doing the same job that he's been doing for 5-10-15-20-20 years will be able to do that job, literally in his sleep at a speed much quicker than when he started as a youngster. So yes, it's still money for old rope, and this is the same in any job or field.

The problem I have is people should not be in the same entry level position for anything close to that amount of time, and the only reason they're is because the CWU has negotiated specific terms and conditions to keep it that way.

I have no issue with it, they're doing the job they're being paid to do and the last time I worked in a 9-5 type capactiy I had a clause written into my employment contract, that every six months it was to be reviewed and I could terminate at that point if I chose to do so.

For the three years I stayed in that position towards the end of every six month period I would hand in my notice, and every-time until I finally did quit, they would just give me another pay-rise to prevent me from walking out on two weeks notice.

Magnify that by 115,000 and you have the UK RMG workforce, of course they want to keep their existing term's and conditions because every couple of years they can pull the same stunt and with Dave and the CWU paying the Labour Party £750,000 it's no surprise that their MP's are speaking out in support.

RMG UK Employees because they stay in the same job for years and decades also being overpaid for the role they have, simply because of how the terms and conditions are laid out.

@Babis I had multiple clients and have worked in finance within the construction industry.

None offered 6 months of sick pay, what they did have though is a lot various different insurance cover and various other indemnity packages to protect such events. Insurance companies, though will always have much stricter guidelines and policies on long term payout's than a company like RMG would and does.

I have no problem with it, the CWU is doing the job is being paid to do, but looking at their accounts as @Hounddog said the CWU needs the type of scenarios we're seeing with both BT and RMG to survive and i'm sure they represented all the doctor's and nurses, they'd all be on strike now.

To be honest, I just took the figures from the summary sheet on page 27 which detailed 29,000,000 in Income but an actual spend of 32,000,000 (Page 27/53.) I do see the surplus of £6,000,00 but there is a lot of careful accounting in the presentation of the figures.

All companies beyond a certain level are guilty of that though, especially RMG.

It seems they have plenty of money in the bank, but their pension scheme fund as you said seems to be in a mess, but that could and probably unwind in due course.

Of that £29,000,000 only £1,000,000 was paid out in member benefits, but they somehow spent £2,000,000 on stationary, postage and telephone

Realistically, they should have a much higher net profit margin, but just like RMG UK they're hemorrhaging money in administrative and labour costs and costs to Labour.

The CWU is raking in over £29,000,000 in subscriptions every year and is somehow running at a £3,000,000 deficit yet it is dictating to a PLC how it should be run in the modern era.

Nice to see they made a £761,000 donation to the Labor party in 2020, yet they complain about dividends.

Easy street is where RMG employees have been living for years if not decades.

The CWU seem to be doing a great job of posting pictures from all the various picket lines up and down the country.

They remind me of the Hatton Garden Job, when the robbery took place the headlines were full of stories of how this was a masterful job and only true masterminds could have planned and carried out the job. When they were eventually caught it turned out they were a bunch of geriatrics.

The lines look a bit thin considering RMG employees circa 150,000 in the UK.

Seems like most of them have just taken another day of unpaid holiday, plus 20 % or more will still be claiming sick leave and probably don't want to get caught on camera.

In the end all you can do is laugh, fair play to them

If I had their current terms and conditions I'd be striking too, it's like an episode of Shameless.

What I find weird is and it's something other companies all seem to have in common outside of RMG.

It's the simple fact that all the drivers and delivery guy's for the gig-economy companies, such as Uber, Amazon etc, and even other Parcel Delivery companies such as DPD and Hermes all seem to be around half the average age of the current Postman and related RMG employees.

The younger guy's seem more incentivised, when they're effectively working in their own capacity rather than under the terms and conditions of employment. They earn less, but have that much more freedom, the older generation at RMG have clearly placed and preference in both the comfort and complacency that come's with a monthly salary, and 35-40 hour working week.
