Siam has just posted this in the telegram group giving a less technical view of what ASTR do
—————————————————-
What Does Astrid Do?
Imagine it’s 1995. There is a new thing called the internet. Nobody really understands it yet.
Some companies don’t try to bet on the internet. Instead, they build the cables, run the servers,
operate exchanges and own the infrastructure. They make money because the internet runs
through them.
That’s what Astrid is doing today — but with AI instead of the internet.
Bittensor is the world’s largest decentralised AI network. It is made up of around 128 independent AI
start-ups, each focused on a specific niche such as computing power, data cleaning, trading systems or medical AI.
Astrid is a listed company that makes money by owning and operating parts of this AI network.
Astrid does not simply buy AI tokens and hope they rise in value.
Instead, Astrid owns AI infrastructure, runs core network services and helps the network function properly. Just like a toll road earns money because cars pass through it, or telecom towers earn money because signals pass through them, Astrid earns money from AI activity flowing through the infrastructure it owns and runs.
Astrid operates AI validators, which act like referees. They check results, score performance and keep the system honest. If the network runs, operators get paid.
Astrid also owns subnet slots, which are best thought of as digital commercial property. AI
companies build on this infrastructure in the same way businesses rent office space.
By operating profitable AI infrastructure, Astrid naturally receives AI network tokens. These tokens are held in a treasury to support operations, access AI services and stabilise the network.
This is infrastructure strength, not speculation.
Alongside this, Astrid is developing advanced AI trading agents with the goal of outperforming even the best human traders. This is additional upside, not the core business.
In short: Astrid does not bet on which AI will win. Astrid owns and runs the infrastructure that all AI has to use.
