Just listened again to the interview.
The interviewer asks NvS to explain a supposed contradiction between handing over mining operations to ILTL whilst stating a long-term vision to develop a coal-to-power plant... which are 2 totally different things, which can quite happily develop independently.
Have to say, based on the rather poor questioning, I think he did well. More eloquent than many.
And in terms of handover, he actually said that the impact of COVID has been less than that seen in Northern hemi' locations; the opposite of suggesting that further delays are to be expected. Not that he was asked.

Another thought... was interesting is how the interviewer was challenging coal and EDL's alignment with ESG; as it was no doubt an EDL-initiated PR event, it seemed a strange - or brave - way for EDL to bring up NvS' musings on long-term strategy. And equally interesting how there nothing on ILTL handover.

Aerial - agreed that their comms is still lousy.
EUZ, interestingly, has turned their comms around in the last 3 months from being woefully, snippet-scratchingly, bad to almost daily tweets - avoiding any presidential hyperbole, luckily - with comments on both ops and market news. Similar market cap. So it can be done. Wonder if Nick ever reads these boards for ideas... :))

D'man - yup, pity the video hadn't been updated. Perhaps that's on the list for when ILTL finally get the keys!

Aerial - not sure whether Nick’s interview could be construed as market sensitive, but they could have RNS’d the fact that he’d given his first interview since joining... noted that he didn’t mention any timing on ILTL handover so it seemed more Strategic update versus Operational.
Either way, glad I am here and holding. If it lasts in the 30s till end of month will add.

Good interview! Finally we hear from the NvS, and some insight into strategy. Very encouraged by this.

...of course, ‘when they were down they doubled down and lowered their average’, but that version wasn’t as popular in the playground... ;)
