AAL Takeover18 Feb 2020 18:03
I appreciate this is my first post but I’ve been invested in SM since 2013 and remain so. For the record – I’m not an employee, agent or secret mole of SM. I grew up near Northallerton but sadly no longer live in North Yorkshire. The current situation obviously sucks and a lot of PI’s (including myself) stand to lose a lot of money if the AAL takeover goes ahead at 5.5p. If it does go ahead, although I will have lost money, at least there is a silver-lining in that the mine will be built and provide a valuable source of secure employment for local people not to mention a valuable source of income for local farmers who hold the mineral rights. It will be a huge positive for an area of the UK that has been in decline for too long. For those reasons I will be taking my losses on the chin and voting ‘Yes’ to the AAL takeover.
Also. Over the years I have read a lot of helpful information on this BB posted by the likes of Scotman but some of the content now is drifting into the realms of conspiracy. It seems like the BB has become an echo chamber of posters only willing to listen to opinions and theories that reinforce their own and as a result, it is becoming increasingly extreme and polarised. Karen Douglas (Professor of Social Psychology at Kent University) had it right when she said: “…if you don’t know anything, a conspiracy theory makes you feel powerful in the face of experts. When shown information that undermines the conspiracy hypothesis it is rejected and reality is bent.”
