Opt, re: the good old petrol and diesel machines...
I understand the nostalgia with the piston engine car..... I still have one, kept it just in case, taxed, insured, used it 3 times in the last year... then only because I needed the tow bar. It makes no sense to keep it really..
Sat in a few tail backs of late, hearing the stop start engines constantly cycling to inch forward over again and again.. It's really ridiculousy inefficient. Piston engine through a thermal Imaging camera, exhaust, engine, everythings white hot...all wasted friction energy.
Heavy plant in mines.
These holes in/under the ground have emission standards control high on their list to avoid gassing their workers, Trucks, Diggers already using electricity for power, huge AC motor, powering drive train and hydraulics..filtered piston engine running the genset....
Huge savings made by removing the fossil engine, in the case below no charging required at all, the weight of the load charges the batteries back up when going down hill.
