Device Authority, a global leader in Identity and Access Management (IAM) for the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced its latest KeyScaler software release with more support for Microsoft Azure IoT and a new solution for managing Hardware Security Modules (HSM).
Device Authority continues to innovate their KeyScaler platform for seamless integration with the leading IoT and Cloud platform providers. Most recently Microsoft Azure IoT has been in the spotlight with more customers and partners requiring an end-to-end service offering to enhance and manage their security operations which help them to accelerate and leverage their investments in IoT implementations. KeyScaler reduces complexities and risk through automation for device registration, onboarding, provisioning and management of credentials for IoT devices that connect to Azure IoT Hub. These security enhancements prevent the cloning of devices connected to Azure, and also provides secure soft storage to protect keys.
Device Authority’s latest software release, KeyScaler 6.5, introduces a new solution called “HSM Access Controller”. This solution delivers granular authentication and authorization controls for IoT devices and enterprise services connecting to HSM platforms, extending KeyScaler APIs to include common HSM operations, such as key generation, data signing, data crypto, and key storage. The development of the HSM Access Controller originated from a requirement by a medical device customer to prevent unauthorized access to critical HSM infrastructure. There is an opportunity for HSM vendors to monetize this solution by offering an HSM as a Service model and solving another Enterprise IoT challenge that their customers are facing for IoT use cases.
“The Device Authority team continues to receive requirements from customers to provide seamless integrations between KeyScaler and Microsoft’s Azure services to manage their IoT security. With KeyScaler 6.5 we have further improved our Security Suite for Azure to enhance our synergies with Microsoft. The HSM Access Controller has great potential for our HSM partners and their customers,” said James Penney, CTO of Device Authority.
CEO Darron Antill further endorses the importance of the Microsoft Azure IoT services and the Device Authority Security Suite for Azure being tightly coupled to solve real Enterprise IoT use cases and security challenges ‘end to end’ for its medical, automotive and industrial customers. “We are very happy to develop our partnership further and the integrated value of our KeyScaler platform with Microsoft Azure IoT. Our customers are demanding it to solve real IoT application and device security problems,” he said.

Was at the capital markets day and echo HMs sentiments. Superb presentations by both FVR and DA. I encourage you to watch both in full when posted which hopefully will be this week.
I came out of the day with only positives. The room was full ... estimate 30ish. And impressively it wasnt just the CEOs but also #2s and in case of DA the new non execs. New CEO of wyld there too and he was impressive and I am convinced will drive the business forward. For AS naysayers it was he who sold wyld and tern to him with a shared vision and belief.
More to follow later or tomorrow but need to catch a flight home.
Regarding DA was very clear that things are now starting to really happen. The ecosystem is in place and people recognise that keyscaler is a need to have in many situations. My two takeaways were 1) keyscaler being device agnostic is what makes it a must have and above others. It is not many different products it is one product with many integrated functionalities but importantly works across most if not all devices. Mocana cant do that nor can ARM Pelion ... neither of these are device agnostic 2) the Microsoft azure developments are very significant and indeed looks like DA will be the go to partner for Microsoft. MS are effectively bringing stuff to DA. So even if revenues havent been huge to date they are undoubtedly going to start growing and very significantly.. added to 1) and 2) arrangements with the likes of wipro and tech mahindra will ensure large teams selling keyscaler as part of integrated solutions. kerching !
Further re DA ... they have a team of about 25 and when a new eg tech mahindra comes along there is an initial education process but thereafter the involvement of DA personnel is not significant. An excellent reseller model.
FVR had their kit there to try out ... VERY impressive. Richard Vincent is very focused on where he is taking the business. In presentation made clear the various income stream including pharma/device companies, surgical training, insurance and data. They were very complimentary of the Tern approach, team and value added to the process. It is clear that the medical institutions that they have partnerships with are impressed and are rilling out. He put a slide up showing existing partnerships and those under discussion ... see for yourself when presentation online ... impressive. Focus on USA as that is where sizeable market and key buyers ... and exit opportunities ! China / India huge markets also but focus resources on USA etc in 1st instance. Very focused and exciting IMO.
No presentation from Invma but they guys were there with a demonstration of asset minder. Again very professional and driven. In fact I have to say that about every single employee of Tern and investees today ... very professional and driven. What I liked about invma is that are definitely turning focus more to product sales... higher turnover and higher margi
These increasingly multi national corporates have so many layers of management that I would have thought its pretty complex and lengthy to be accepted as partners and look at the damage to their image if it goes wrong by partnering with a dud company. They would also only partner if they are getting a unique solution that they can't do inhouse but you are right in that before we see numbers it might all be hot air but I would rather have global multi nationals as partners than not have them as partners.
Good luck in what ever you decide
I would say Wyld news was probably more significant than DA news, 100% owned, targeting a $21 bn sector with a ambitious technology partner and financed by Government grants, led by an experienced new CEO and Tern's little black book of contacts.
