If a sale of an asset is announced on day x, the dividend will accrue to the shareholder register at close of business on day x-1.
Now us numpties on the board know that is the sale nets oo 100 million. That will be returned to shareholders whereas the great unwashed might just see it added to the market cap. For a while.
And the share price may well rise dramatically to reflect this only to drop back when the penny drops.
