My only reservation about SMT is the plus 10% holding in Tesla, albeit SMT sold a large slice last year. Tesla's share price is running well ahead of any potential future solid profits.

I took some profits by selling 35% of my SMT shares recently, my remaining holding is showing over 115% gain since I first bought in back in I think 2015, with a few further purchases and sales since.

It is never wrong to take some profits and not get too greedy.

Interim dividend held at 39.5 pence, it seems that although Covid-19 has had some effect on half year result it is not that substantial.

The Fevertree Tonic range may be regarded by buyers as a way to ward off Covid-19, plus a copious splash of Gin!

Yes agreed Laughton, a 3 month plus dent in sales in pubs, clubs and restaurants in UK, just over half normal sales I believe, that will make a difference to this year's final results. A second wave of Covid-19 this winter will hold back next year's results.

Now HSBC uprates Fevertree to 25.50 and that seems to explain this morning's price rise. The price will get there eventually or even surpass it provided Covid-19 does not hit with a second wave of infections this coming winter.

Judging by the last two days' rise it cannot all be down to the easing of lockdown and pubs opening. large transactions today must mean expectations are high re Fevertree's future progress.

Price briefly rose to the 20.98 level now settled back.

My brokers at this time 10.55 are quoting Bid:2,081p Offer:2,091p
Either there are more significant holders quietly adding to their holdings or there are more buyers than sellers.
The next thing we will here is some rumour circulating that there is a bid in the offing.
For the moment I am sitting tight and not buying or selling.

I could name a number of my investments that had I thrown all my money into buying the shares I would now be more than ten times better off than I am now. No doubt other investors have had to the same experience!

The vast majority of the daily trades are not significant in value, just a few hundred or thousand pounds in value.
Punters with nothing else to do with their lives trying to become billionaires via day trading piddling mounts, the market price adjusts accordingly as the day goes by.

Director Kevin Havelock is the man who seems to be taking the long view despite his accumulated losses. I would go by his judgment any day.

The takeover rumour has had a short lived effect, beware of such rumours they are aimed at manipulating the price.
