That's your opinion, and obviously your perverse wish, but I prefer to reserve such certainties until the facts bear them out.

Russia has constantly and resolutely stated maximalist terms only. So, that reduces the scenario to resist or surrender - there is no negotiation on offer from Russia. After four years, there is virtually a stalemate on the ground. Meanwhile, Russia's war-based economy has led to 20% interest rates, a huge spike in corporate debt, inflation at 8%, a banning of the internet and other chronic degradation of quality of life of the citizens.

I think both sides are on a precipice of collapsing. Who will blink first? We'll see. But it is not a given that it will be Ukraine.
