Hi there's many factors taken into consideration to come up with this number and timeframe. Long term chart, technical analysis, candlesticks and gap that needs to be filled, possibility that regulatory approval for Liberty cable networks deal given in mid 2019 etc
today but the sp is higher than yesterday morning! Impressive.
No. The debt is very low compared to the sector and comfortably manageable. The fall is due to the drop in profits, particularly in Nigeria that is a large market for the company. It seems that a turnaround to growth in Nigeria is not expected in the short term and so the shares have been marked down. The only positive is that the dividend is being maintained and it is still covered by profits.
have been discussing with a friend tonight re VOD and if theres any bad news we dont know, then looked into the 1 year graphs of AT&T, Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom etc. and concluded it is a sector trend and not a company specific issue. Good night all and have a good weekend!
Hi sheffieldowls, I just saw your previous comments that you have bought them long time ago and really cheap, well done for holding! As for a possible offer, I would also prefer a share offer rather than cash, although that is just speculation. I cannot see anything coming until after the summer though. What is most important now is good results to come in 4 weeks with profit over 80 million for the year with some improvement in the UK (as Nigeria weakness is already priced in, so will not come as a surprise). I believe that it can be possible given the good weather could help sales of St Tropez & I also noticed a lady buying a few PZC products last time I went to the supermarket, so here's hoping!
some in the morning spike as I needed to top up my gold portfolio! Got the timing right so far but still felt guilty for selling sdry so low around 1220. Anyway I believe gold miners will present us with a buying opportunity soon if not already. GLA
someone come and buy this out! Save us from the misery of holding it! I hope someone out there listens and takes it over. AMEN
To be fair, it is still a falling knife and the SP has broken some support levels so it can technically go even lower. I am still content with my purchase here though and will not be upset even if it goes lower in the short term. The company has no debt, pension deficit etc to drag it down, a UK slowdown could be balanced by international expansion and a change in fashion/shoppers habits can be sorted out by a competent management team that will review the product lines and launch new products or invest in new products/distribution channels (also low debt = easier to invest). In a nutshell, yes, there is still risk here, but it can be mitigated and the company can come good in the long run. Risk/reward ratio points to buy for me. As always DYOR.
Just added this to the ISA, Compelling buy for capital gains + tax free dividends. Main reasons for investing is the absence of debt and the prospects for international expansion. Mostly the low debt. When companies with a lot of debt fall a lot I am hesitant to invest. The low debt here makes it an opportunity rather than a value trap IMO. DYOR and GLA
