UK politics and interest rate has no individual effect on the PoG. It's wider western currency debasement and eastern de-dollarisation that is driving pricing currently.

@Lee1235 Absolutely correct. There's some outliers, but tech companies are not like in the 1999 crash - they have real revenue, real profit. Some of the P/Es are elevated, but even crazies like nVidia are only at 23 forward vs 45 trailing.

Generally considered to be able to draw at 3-4% if you stay invested in lower risk investments. Assuming 3.5%, you'd need £285k invested for each £10k of annual income.

Of course, that goes down when the state pension kicks in, and probably too when you pass 70 as you tend to slow down a bit.

You can just buy an annuity where you hand over the money in exchange for a guaranteed income - the rates at 57 were about £6k per annum for each £100k last time i looked.

@JiffyBag - if they can show better returns from retaining for growth this might be one of the few times in many years where the institutions will encourage that. All gold producers are throwing off so much cash, they don't need it all to pay dividends to fund holders.
