Antrim Energy (LON:AEY/TSE:AEN) – Antrim Sound Today’s response from Antrim Energy to Sound’s announcement yesterday can only be described as dismissive, but does belie a certain frustration at not being able to assess the suitability of Sound Oil’s asset base for Antrim’s owners. We have some measure of sympathy for this, especially as sound has put the combined opportunity piloted by its management as value creating. If we were advising Antrim’s board on this matter we would suggest that it is incumbent on the team to fairly assess the suitability of sound and advise shareholders accordingly. From Antrim’s response its management team has already stated that this is what it wants to do. In all worlds the best kind of approach a company can make is either an approved or a friendly approach, and this is fast turning into neither. However as an impartial observer and commentator it is going to make for an interesting close to 2014 and we suspect that unless unchecked the, it could well turn into an ugly spat, but make good reading and watercooler conversation, as it has all the hallmarks of what could be a gritty drama, which if it were a TV show would probably be called “Antrim Sound.” As we said yesterday: “…While there has been significant headwind for Antrim of late, we believe that shareholders would be foolish to accept anything less than 30%, and while SOU makes valid observations regarding management cost in proportion to its market, we don’t believe that Sound Oil’s technical team is worth the additional 20% “cost” that investors in Antrim are being asked to pay. Given that this is a hostile offer, made without board support, we cannot see it succeeding at these levels and believe that Sound’s board will have to come back with a better offer, either at, or exceeding the traditional 30% premium to the clean market valuation…”

do you work for Sound Oil ? If so tell them 20-30p may just get accepted and even that will take some time to consider. I have bourght and will continue to buy AEY for their assets, cash and blocks not SOU.

Tangiers Petroleum (LON:TPET/ASX:TPT) – New Management, New Region It seems as if whenever a company changes management these days it completely changes its business, and the departure of the disastrous Eve Howell has precipitated such a change – going from a company that is focused on offshore Africa, playing the Atlantic margin play in Morocco, to exploring in Alaska, and onshore US play, is quite a change. To our mind this could almost be a change of business, and therefore require the input of the Company’s owners. We don’t doubt the prospectivity of Alaska, in fact, we believe it’s basins are the last of the last of the forgotten US onshore plays. To that extent, we believe that this is a move that will start to see the Company returns some of the destruction in value that has been experienced since the departure of Mark Cheglinski. There is no doubt that there will be a further fundraising to come, it will be a question of how much, and how often, especially as production is now further away than at any other time in its recent history. That said we believe that there will be some measure of a relief rally that the management team brought in has a direction to take the Company in, and one, which on the face of it at least, looks as if it will make a difference.

I dont think he/she understands how the markets work. TPET has overshot the selling with the mkp now at just over 2 million provides huge upside. So the price is likely to do 200-500% on no news just the fact that its been sold down far to much. Fair value before any further project development is about 2-4p. This is then still a big fall from 12p on the duster.

Can only buy 100k shares. The share price could be about to turn back towards pre-suspension price of 2p

However now is the time to buy below cash levels and they have a very strong cash position
