Really sorry to hear of your situation, that is awful. I crystallised a loss of 12.5k yesterday which is a hard pill to swallow, but I learned a lot about about following my head in the future and not my heart. All of these experiences help you to become better and hopefully help you work out how to improve in investing in the future. I’ve made some great gains on shares in the past, but this has been my biggest loss to date. I understand why this happened and have changed my investing approach already to ensure I limit any losses better. I really hope you get through this and remember you’re not the only one who has suffered losses. I decided enough was enough, and should that miracle happen, then that’s my bad. However, for me, scraping something from my investment was my choice, and I instantly feel better for it. Like a noose is gone from my neck. I do wish you every success and if you do decide to hang onto your shares, I really hope that miracle happens for you.
Me too, really glad to add further to my holdings this week. Even topped up the children’s ISA’s with a few more!
As a LTH currently 13k down, I’m watching with interest the share price movements that have unfolded this week. I’m refrained from further investment, just because the logical part of my mind tells me that nothing has changed; this continues to be high risk and the recent RNS by Mooky was very clear about Cineworld currents position and indeed cinemas performance in general over recent weeks. With that in mind, it’s clear that results on numbers will not be great and therefore the future of Cineworld rests on managing its debt and being able to pay this back sensibly as well as make profit.
The CPX issue needs to be resolved and we will hopefully get some news soon. Clearly there is a case here regarding the original judgement and hopefully this will be re-adjusted. It’s clear the company are looking at all options and the fact there has been no announcement is positive - it means these different avenues are being reviewed and investigated.
My hat goes off to those of you that have averaged down and indeed to those of you that have dipped in for some quick profit. Balls of steel.
It’s sad to see many new faces rubbing salt into many open wounds of LTH and gloating as the share price has collapsed. Whilst opinions differ and sometimes people get it right and other times they don’t, I personally find it sad that people get off on others financial misery. We are all in this for the same reason - to make some money. Let’s continue the two sided views, but let’s all try to stop the put downs and bickering - it really helps no-one.
I still believe in cinema; it’s a cheap form of escapism that is much needed by most at the moment and history tells us cinema has cemented its place in society.
I really hope that Cine turn this around and my investment comes good in the future.
Anyone have any views on the recent slump?
Thanks for the detailed post - lots to digest and think about. It would have been nice to hear their thoughts on the SP slide as with all that positivity and good news just around the corner it doesn’t tally with the slow and steady SP slide. Let’s hope their view on consolidation works; I’ve held lots of different stocks in the past where consolidation hasn’t worked, I really hope this time it’s different.
Sorry if this seems like an obvious question, however I don’t remember being offered the chance to vote on the forthcoming consolidation. I trade with Barclays and have just checked my account and I have had no notification regarding voting options. Was there a vote and should I have received notification? Apologies if this seems like an obvious question, I just assumed I would receive the option to vote via my Barclays account.
Whilst it’s great to see this recovering, I’m struggling to understand any logical rationale giving that it’s drifted for so long. No new RNS or news, everything we know is out there and priced in, so why the sudden spike upwards?
Ah Ok, many thanks for letting me know
Oh, that’s interesting, did you get a contract note as well?
I use Barclays for my trading and note that the special dividend (or interim dividend) hasn’t been paid today. I also note I didn’t receive any contract note either. I thought today was the day for the dividend payment. Has anyone else had the same issue, is it just me or is it a problem with Barclays?
Anyone know the reason for the dip today?
So, $253 million on opening weekend and making more money in three and a half days than any other film in 2021, shows, without doubt, the appetite and desire for cinema. Regardless of your views on Covid, people were out spending money on the big screen in order to see a movie. This is despite all the ongoing news regarding Omicron and keeping safe. If people are flocking to the cinema during a worldwide pandemic, what will it be like post pandemic? Like Sony have said this morning, these figures highlights the publics desire and need to watch films on the big screen.
Having a reasonable investment here, I very rarely write on this board, but do find it interesting listening to the views of others. However recently it’s taken a nosedive. Why do certain individuals seem to want to gloat every time they ‘appear’ to be right? It’s like a school playground sometimes. Mooky’s recent update gave LTH a clear indication of the publics view of cinema, of which Barclays agreed and made their position clear. The recent slide is obviously due to the Coronavirus situation in Europe, of which of course the market will be jittery. If major lockdowns happen then of course it will affect Cine, however the extent will be determined by which countries go into lockdown. Whilst the result of the court case still looms, my personal opinion is that there is a lot to be hopeful for in the future. Of course it will take time and yes there will be bumps in the road, but please let’s just act like adults and stop the constant playground antics! If I’m honest I don’t really care if you’re invested in RR or TUI or what you do for a living, and of course I respect that you are entitled to your opinion - it would be great if you simply made your point just once rather than every single time the SP drops. It doesn’t make you look or sound clever in fact it actually does the opposite.
Andy, I’m pleased that as an investor you don’t find a near 50% drop disappointing. Myself on the other hand, I do. It doesn’t matter what price I came from, or indeed where I am now personally with my investment, the point I was making was that to me, that level of drop is extremely disappointing. I don’t need to ‘get a grip’ as you suggest, it’s just an opinion. Mine in fact, which I’m more than entitled to have. If you think differently then great, I suggest you ‘keep a grip’, as you put it, on your own view and are less insulting to others.
As a long term holder, I’ve held these shares for a number of years believing that one day, the planets would align and SAR would show its true value. Earlier on in the year, I genuinely believed this was going to happen as momentum increased, investment came forward and we looked like we were starting to move at pace. Now we are sliding away again with no update, the usual silence from the BOD and if I’m honest, it’s becoming a hard pill to swallow. Constantly kicking the can down the road and always promising tomorrow is starting to wear very thin.
Pig, yes I too didn’t sell CPI at 55. I’m holding out for a healthy rise upwards, pending the next update. I’m confident this will hit 60 soon, the last trading update was good and the company seem to have things in order. No reason that a good return shouldn’t be on the cards here. It’s stuck for a while around 45-48 so hopefully a change in the right direction soon. Time will tell I guess! Hope you and yours have a great weekend.
In my ISA, Cine forms 30% of my holding, the other two are Sareum and Capita. I also hold Cine in my standard trading account, but only a low amount in that one.
Whilst this share has it’s risks, I’ve decided to invest another 3k. This helps not only bring the total average down but also I genuinely believe this share holds good value at this price. Lots of issues on the immediate horizon, but longer term this current storm should pass and we’re hopefully into more sunnier and calmer weather. Let’s hope I don’t regret that decision!
Hi Bonkers, I’ve just checked and the report claims for the UK info a ‘40.6% increase in average ticket price’ which is probably where that article got its information from.
