RE: UK Clopidogrel prescription numbers below:25 Oct 2022 00:10
DSFLAT,
I am reluctant to run estimates on future revenue due to GDRs failure to take any products to sales/commercialisation in any great level over the last 3 years (Check the last 3 years accounts if you want to do your own DD).
This has been very frustrating, though I live in hope that things will change with the stroke and hearing loss products. Unlike the COVID products, that were late to the party in a saturated market, the stroke and hearing loss products our world firsts in their respective fields.
So, if or when sales start for the stroke products (once we get over all the regulatory hurdles), they might look something like this.
- If 3.16M prescriptions were dispensed each year in the UK for Clopidogrel, let's say as a conservative estimate 500,000 of these patients were receiving the drug for the first time. These people need to know if Clopidogrel is a suitable drug for them to take, so would take GDRs test
- Let's be really cautious on price. The hearing loss test is supposed to cost £80 per baby. In the absence of any company figures let's say the stroke test costs £50 per person
- 500,000 x £50 = £25 million in yearly revenue for the UK alone (only if the stroke test gets written into NICE guidelines)
As always DYOR. What's everyone's thoughts on these figures - conservative or too extravagant?
GLA.
