Half decent set of full year results and the rehabilitation of the Bank almost completed. However investors did not like the size of the remaining restructuring charges of 2.5 billion pounds and a further decline in the Bank operating nett interest margins, hence the drop in the share price.

HSBC is a proxy for the US Dollar. The decline in the share price is partly due to the strength of the broad weighted US dollar index.

RBS are now a highly profitable bank they have now achieved nine consecutive reporting quarters of £1 billion pounds each of underlying profits. Although there are still serious outstanding litigation and conduct issues to settle. I believe RBS will become increasingly well provisioned over the next few reporting quarters to meet these outstanding fines and costs. RBS should be in a financial position to return excess capital to shareholders no later than early 2019. ATB

The East Coast Main Line contact is proving to be a real poisoned chalice for Stagecoach. Pre-tax profits have plunged from £104.4 million pounds to £17.9 million pounds after booking an £84.1 million pound exceptional charge for anticipated losses for the East Coast Line over the next two years. Stagecoach will have to tread a fine line with Rail franchise Regulators in their bid to try and renegotiate their contractual rights and obligations for the East Coast Main Line without endangering and putting at risk the renewal and bidding process for the West Coast Mainline and other future rail franchise contracts at a future date. smokey17 The total accrued debt liabilities for the Group including short and long-term debt instruments is just over £1 Billion Pounds. dunandusted maybe i was a little harsh in using the word "Little Englander" and apologise. Although i do respect the valid arguments put forward by the Brexiteers my anger and critism was aimed at the so called marginalised white working classes who never usually vote but turned out this time in their droves to vote, with the intention of giving David Cameron and Establishment a kicking. Most EU migrant workers in this country are young, hard working and highly intelligent energised and adaptable people, who have brought wealth, and a rich seam of alternative culture to our Country, We have nothing to fear but a lot to learn from these people living and working in our Country. Pandemio you are quite correct this Referendum can be overturned a lot of people are now regretting voting for Brexit and are now staring into the abyss. Austerity, Tax Rises, Employment, Working Tax Credits, Minimum Wage, House Prices. Triple Lock State Pension, Bus Pass, Food Prices and petrol the list goes on and on, are now all under threat. There now has to be a consilatory cross party debate in Parliament and with our EU Partners we are not out of EU by any means yet.

While the Brexiteers were out celebrating their Independence Day. I spent most of the day investing my cash mountain in picking up shares at what i have perceived to be bargain basement prices. Only time will tell how much these shares will turn out to be a bargain. Today reality has kicked in and i feel a lot poorer my country is now a broken divided nation with a very uncertain future indeed. No doubt these misconcieved little Englanders who voted for Brexit will eventually get their Dark Satanic Mills back, long after Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage have fled these shores to live in their chosen Tax Havens.

Hopefully the Market is beginning to stabilise and there will be no Market suspension of trade that i initially feared. It will be interesting to see where we end up, at the end of the day.

The dice has always been loaded against the small private individual investor both in the past and no doubt in the future. There has never been a level playing field for the individual investor and again unlikely to be one in the near future despite todays information technology age .Mailman states shares go up and down often for no logic reason, but that is the all point of the Stockmarket., however when the Stockmarket is run and controlled by the City, for the City and share prices are manipulated that is a different matter. dunandusted RBS are indeed up today . Despite a slow start to the year i find RBS a very profitable share to day trade in and there is still a lot of unlocked value in RBS compared to other UK Banking Stocks, last Fridays rise completly caught me out, and has continued up to the eve of the Referendum I like many other investors are now sat on cash mountains it will be interesting to see over the next few trading sessions where we end up or to the point where City wants to take the market. There will be plenty of opportunities to get back into market .

The new Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) is due to be implemented by the Financial Services Authority on the 3rd July, for me it cannot come soon enough. Despite many attempted crack downs in the past on this practice by UK Regulators, Market Manipulation is still rife amongst individual city traders and Institutions and in some cases orchestrated collusion takes place between the City Trading Institutions, in the equities, commodities and currency markets. Share prices can be wildly inflated or in the case of Lloyds Banking Group artifically held down over the longer term This has certainly been highlighted in the share price movements, and suspicious buy and sell orders we have seen over the past few days.

I think the Remain Vote Result is now currently fully priced into the share prices for RBS Barclays and Lloyds. Once again the City Institutions have deified all logic and have made their risky pre-emptive strike and are now in a win-win situation regardless of the eventual result of the Referendum, leaving the most seasoned individual investors sat on cash mountains and their Referendum investment strategies in tatters. In the event of a Remain Vote i would expect an initial surge in share prices due to individual investors piling in and prices dropping possibly as early as the close of trading on Friday.

The City can be an unpredictable beast at the best of times. Just like the previous Scottish Referendum the City appears to have already decided on the result of the referendum days before it has actually taken place. I am not quite so sure of the result. I would strongly advise those investors to exercise extreme caution, who are contemplating joining the party at this late stage, I fear this rally in share prices could be a classic City bear trap being laid for the unwary private investor to relieve them of their cash.
