Noel, you are not alone regarding your views, but I do think you are in a small minority. Despite what sites like expose news insist, Global warming is a reality, and the world needs to wean itself off of fossil fuels asap. But in the near term and certainly the next decade at least, most households in the UK will still have gas boilers, so we still need to rely on gas whether we like it or not. Therefore Natural Gas piped in from the North Sea has to be the way to go, as it's far less environmentally damaging compared to LNG shipped in from far away countries. And I fully expect the new licences to be allocated by the end of September.
I guess Deltic do read this, as they have just removed the Capricorn Farm in info from their home page!
Yep, he definitely seemed to be trying very hard to suppress a big grin :-)
It also has to be said that Deltic's Website really needs a bit of work. The headlines that flick across need updating, as it's still championing the Capricorn farm in, the Pensacola update is out of date and not reflecting the improved situation, etc. If anyone at Deltic reads this chat, I really think you need to keep on top of this kinda stuff.
You are right Dr P, I saw the drop and presumed there was more selling than there actually was, when it was actually just a short burst of sells. Trying to multi task with my day job, obviously badly ;-)
Yep, the initial reaction to this is just laughable! Everyone knew Capricorn were pulling out already, so why the shock! Deltic can now move on and find another partner who is interested in progressing these licences. Anyway, after that initial bizarre selling spree it looks like sense may be returning
While we patiently await monetisation news, I guess I am not the only one on this chat who is wondering what kind of deal Deltic are working on. I don't know how these things normally work, but I suppose I am hoping that Deltic can sell off a big chunk of their holding of Pensacola which will bring in sufficient funding for the next few years, but still manage to keep a small percentage that would be a complete free ride with no obligations, so a reliable and regular source of no strings attached income once (if) Pensacola goes into production, which could then be used to fund other projects going forward. I have no background in this industry so I really don't know what kind of deal is or isn't possible, but whatever deal Deltic does, if it can finally kill off speculation of future placings by being a deal that potentially safeguards their finances, then that would be a real game changer for the shareprice. Let's hope we get some good news on a monetisation soon, but while we wait, does anyone else have any thoughts on what kind of deal Deltic could achieve?
I suppose we couldn't really expect a 4th day in a row of share price gains. But a positive monetisation announcement would be a game changer, so hopefully we will get one soon. GLALTH's
Thanks Cheapie, and just watched it. And I don't think I have ever seen Mr Swindells looking so relaxed and confident in an interview, he was even trying to hide a smile on a few occasions. My Deltic rose tinted specs are even rosier after watching that :-)
Yep, finally an announcement, and it sure does appear to be very good news.
Noel, I might be wrong but I guess I am one of the suspicious posters wearing "rose tinted specs" seeing as I have only ever posted positive comments. But that's because I am positive about what this company is trying to do. That obviously doesn't mean that Deltic will be successful, so you are right to say my posts have no balance. But then surely you should also be pulling up posters like Cookoo on this issue of not posting balanced posts who's posts are always negative. To be fair on Cookoo, 9 years and counting is a long time to wait!
The lowest I bought at was 0.64 (so 12.8p in new money), although I did see it go as low as 0.55 (11p) intraday! I seem to remember someone commenting on this chat that they were getting "a bit emotional" when the share price almost got back to a penny :-)
I agree Dr P. I first started buying shares late 2018 and have gradually bought them ever since. About half of my shares were bought during 2020 when Covid caused the share price to collapse. So this current share price could also be an opportunity too!? Only time will tell. We all may have differences of opinion, but one thing all shareholders can agree on is that hopefully this will come good in the not too distant future, so fingers crossed for that!
Noel, I am fully aware that this has risks, but I am talking it up because Shell are on board and we know the gas is there. So like I said, it's a gamble, but one I think has a decent chance. If I thought the odds of success were low I would no longer hold shares. So I still believe this will come good, and as such my comments are always bullish. If this makes me a ramper then so be it.
I also had shares in Dragon oil that I think I bought back in the 90s I guess. Had them for many many years. From memory I think I bought them at about £5 a share? They then collapsed to about 10p per share at which point I completely wrote them off, but still kept them. They then recovered to over £7 maybe higher and I eventually sold with a small profit. Just shows what can happen!
If Deltic had no prospects, or even some prospects but without any partners farmed into them, then I would most certainly be concerned. But Deltic does have prospects, two of which look promising enough to have persusded a giant like SHELL to farm in, and Shell have continued to spend time and money progressing them. It sure seems like slow progress, it is what it is, but nevertheless it is progressing. If you ask yourself why is a company with the clout and experience of Shell involved with a minnow like Deltic, well the answer isn't that Shell are doing it for a bit of a laugh. Shell are involved because they have seen something in these two Deltic prospects that is worth their while. So yes the current share price is awful, and may go down further, but I am happy to sit back, hold my shares, and wait, as Deltic could be sitting on a proverbial gold mine. Or maybe not? But if an industry giant like Shell think it's a decent gamble, then so do I
Well that was 96 pence well spent lol
3 trades so far today, all 3 showing as sells and all at the same price. Well, 1 of those transactions was mine, and it was a buy!!!
We obviously don't agree Cookoo, as I remain positive because as far as Deltic are concerned they do have real assets and are working alongside Shell. That gives me genuine hope that Deltic can get a positive result. We can't all agree, but that's just life. I genuinely wish you all the best.
Seems like we have touched a nerve with the resident deramper on ADVFN this morning. So that can't be a bad thing!
