Mana, I'm not happy about the silence on the payments either. But I do understand that it is the role of a director to seek the best outcome for the company.
I don't buy into this rubbish about 'the shareholders' being the major importance. We had 40m shares traded in one day a couple of weeks back, they couldn't care less about the company so why should directors bother with them.

That is something you don't know.

Imagine you are in discussions about payment and the other side are trying to push you into a corner. What could make them think you are in a stronger position? A leaked news article saying you were having talks with a major rival for the tech they want?

Mana, gong public is not a clever negotiation tactic.

Firstly imagine if there is a problem with getting the payment.
1 - If NFX issued an RNS saying they were arguing over payment what would happen to the shareprice?
2 - If the above happened, do you think Yatai would then take pity and pay or see NFX as weak and push harder as they shareholders are upset?
3 - Imagine NFX were negotiating the payment as part of a larger deal with NXP001? How would negotiations be affected by going public? Would that upset Yatai who might then pull out?

Now, answer me this.

Other than your own personal interest, what benefit would releasing an update RNS have before real news is concluded?

Think the clue in the rns regarding ongoing discussions was that it was with multiple parties and not limited to NXP002.

I get the feeling the resolution of payments is linked to some other aspects.

Mana, the last results were quite clear in that it states the company will not be undertaking any unnecessary expense, particularly if there are any delays in receipt of payment.

Once the cogs start to turn, then I think we shall see movement on the broker front, but not before.

Screech, simply not true. Look over the past year. Monday has the least announcements. Most are Fridays, but that is largely holdings RNS. Most news releases are Tuesdays.

At the end of the day, the company don't care what day of the week they release news. They will do so when its ready.

Potential company buyers will be waiting for de-risking to take place. At the moment NXP002 had good results but has only got to pre-clinical stage.

Indeed DanstheMan, we know NFX recieved £400k as the upfront payment from Ebers and they expect another £1m at some point this year dependent on milestones.

NXP002 news is likely to be the outlicensing of the development to fund the clinical work over the next year or so. Basically as the Times rumour and confirmation of discussions RNS from the company.

Scary, there is no 12m up front payment from Ebers.

At the end of the day, the sp has finished blue the past two days with the shares in the market, regardless of any selling. That’ll do me.

The AGM rns on the 10th Sept states:

"The Company's issued share capital is 469,466,512 ordinary shares of £0.001 each."

And yet yesterdays RNS states:

"Following the issue of the Loan Note Shares and Warrant Shares the total number of shares now in issue is 469,716,512 ordinary shares with voting rights attached (one vote per share). There are no shares held in treasury."

How many shares were issued yesterday?

Dave, you'll always be able to buy or sell.

Maybe not at the price you wish, but you will be able to buy or sell none the less. Statements about getting 'locked out' only serve one purpose.

The whole free float thing is a pointless comment. Friday's volume of 40m+ tells you that you won't get 'locked out'
