Dear Parent,
**************** has been selected for a Quality Assurance exercise to support NHS Test & Trace. We have been instructed by the Government to ask ********** students who are already performing Lateral Flow Device Covid-19 tests at home to undertake a single PCR (lab-tested) test. This is so that NHS Test &Trace can compare results from these different testing technologies.
As with current LFD testing processes, carrying out the PCR test is purely voluntary and is carried out at home.
PCR testing kits will be placed in ************** this week so that students can collect one as they leave one of their exams. The PCR kit will include instructions on how to perform the PCR swab and what to do next.
Students are asked to take a LFD test and a PCR test on the same day at some point prior to 2 July 2021. You will need to enter the bar codes of the PCR and LFD tests into a web page. We have been told that this takes less than 5 minutes to complete. You will then need to put the PCR test into the post using a pre-paid box that will be provided. Instructions on how to do this are supplied with the PCR kit.
