The appointments follow the recent confirmation of £96 million in funding (in 2025/26 price base) from Ofgem for the East Coast Hydrogen programme, which includes Project Union East Coast.

East Coast Hydrogen is a partnership led by National Gas, Cadent, and Northern Gas Networks and aims to create a hydrogen network that will transport the low-carbon energy source across the Northeast, the Humber, Yorkshire and the East Midlands.

Well its clearly been considered as its part of SGN's H2 project running from dorset and connecting into project union. Nice little map on the link as well just so.its crystal:-)

Meanwhile, H2 Connect will develop an optimal design to connect a hydrogen network in central southern England. This project will focus on the future expansion of hydrogen production, storage and imports in the Solent region.

From Dorset to the main national gas transmission grid :-)

As per the Company's RNS of 27 June 2024, UKEn's national scale Dorset storage facility is planned to link directly with The Solent Cluster and the wider southern UK via SGN's H2 Connect pipeline, enabling our storage to service a significant portion of the UK's planned future hydrogen system.

Along with similar LOSs from Sumitomo, SGN and RWE (see RNS announcements of 29 May, 27 June and 2 August 2024) The Solent Cluster LOS will be used as required documentation for UKEn's future application for government hydrogen storage Revenue Support.
