If cgp were that upset they could just wait a couple nore months and problem would be solved and bhp can bid but they have to approach solg.
To me it feels a little staged by cgp and solg with solg starting the bidding and essentially leaving the door open for other parties for 3 months with a promise that prices will be much higher soon with funding, pfs and new discoveries on the horizon.
Its looking like Enami and Ncm are preparing moves.
Of course the Franco deal getting sealed tomorrow may put a different slant on this but this may well be acceptable for other parties as I see barrick and other majors already use very similar deals and the list of such deals is available on the Franco website.

Just doesn't seem straight forward to put in a new board and throw Franco deal out.
This would bring down sp for both companies and basically give away solg to ncm and bhp and cgp would have to wait years for the big players to add the value.
I just can't see that working.

Would that look desperate?
If I were Bhp in that situation I'd hang on until funds were low again and just carry on picking up cheap equity and cgp wpuld be no better off.

My guess is Ncm and cgp are first to go with bhp/enami taking positions with maybe another major like barrick joining in.

Surely it would make sense for NCM to make a move for Cgp before franco funding and pfs are released.

That's right Barry, exploration costs are paid back from earnings.
Cgp will need to contribute to mine building costs .

If and its a big IF lets say cgp go alone and find through there major shareholders it would very easy for bhp to take majority holdings by purchasing ncm and solg .
Do cgp really think bhp will play ball with them?
Doubt it very much, Cgp can expect a long dilutive period lasting many years while Bhp choke them out.
The sensible approach would be to work with Solg to get the best deal for both parties and start working on the sp .
