The big Investors have their own strategies, just like everyone here. Unlike pi's they cannot easily dump holdings to avoid losses. If they tried to shift 5% of sxx m.cap on top of the run we would not hold at 9p!
I guess Norge's/quatar being such huge wealth fund backed this with the same convictions as everyone else with full knowledge it was pretty much binary lose the lot or huge growth potential and long steady income. To those guys the 10s of millions potential loss is akin to us lossing a few hundred it's all relative. I would not base your investment choice on there moves if so your 3days late to the party and the buffet is covered in mould lol
Follow your convictions and strategy whatever that is. You will never call the markets 100% of the time, even the most successful traders regularly lose on investments. See the recent Woodford debical for how badly it can go.
As always don't invest if you cannot afford to lose even the safest assets could be hit by a meteorite lol

Word of caution. Alot of the smaller holdings will be curtasy of moving to FTSE and forcing ii's to hold in passive tracker funds. Saying that there are a number of large holdings from big players. Read it as you will. IMHO bonds will go and this will be a minor annoyance to us looking back or a missed opportunity depending how you play!

@Rocal - Stop losses, panic sellers, short closes etc. The opening hour saw around 70mil shares change hands with a 30% SP drop think this shows there are not many willing to sell just yet.

Yes but would you tell the "market" you want to buy 75mil. Or do what you can to reduce the share price whilst trading off book or during daily auctions. Remember you get a few days grace to submit changes to the regulator plenty of time to play mind games and get the shares at the lowest possible price point.

Remember there are approx. 460mil shares shorted.
A lot of those will need to close out before the bond news is released. That's a lot of buying that needs to occur and they will want to do that as cheaply as possible. Not an easy task with the daily volumes. So calling a friend at FT is definitely the route I would take!

If JPM are taking all the risk why rely on a margin of 15% HY bond that the holders will expect HY ergo JPM make nothing for taking a huge risk. IF (and a big if) that was JPM's model here surely they would a) issue JPM back bonds at close to 0% and take the full 15% from the "loan" to SXX

Still have a sizable holding (for my finances :-) ), missed opportunities (35-40p in 2016, ~30p in 2017, 30-35p in 2018) to take some profits. Maybe stupid but ~20% on a punt 19/06 seemed a worthwhile gamble. Time will tell, but either way still have 25% of my pension and some in an ISA to take advantage of the successful project.

Just sold my batch of shares purchased at 13.67 for 16.49.
