Although SEE is going up nicely, another DW for SE in China.
https://www.marketscreener.com/quote/stock/SMART-EYE-AB-PUBL-111327682/news/Smart-Eye-announces-design-win-from-Chinese-OEM-32184140/
This is from the Smart Eye update "We estimate that 30% of the world's car production will be procured before the end of 2023, with planned production start from 2024 onwards. It is our definite intention to be as strong as possible before the next wave of procurements, and thanks to the issue, we have very good conditions to be able to do so." So although they maybe claiming 11 out of the top 20 OEM's this would suggest that they are below 30% of the market and there is still a lot to play for and even after 2023 there will still be 70% up for grabs!!
Hi,
Not sure if this has been posted before, but there is a good description on what Guardian does and how it protects drivers in this presentation. The SM part starts after about 38 mins, the key part being after 42 mins where the slide shows 30,000 units installed around the world!

First of a 2 part article on DMS and Cabin Monitoring, mentions other suppliers but finishes on SEE. I've not found part 2 yet!

Its only 10 new units, but they are fitted into brand new Mercedes-Benz trucks:
"All are Euro 6, which backs up our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, and all are fitted with Seeing Machines – an important step in managing our driver fatigue, health and wellbeing – as well the latest MT Data units to manage real-time compliance,"

Smokey,
I'm only analysing 2 sets of data, one provided by yourself and the other by Whatif. Your graph only has 1 day where the number of installed units goes above 20,000 (11 Dec 2019), yet we know that there were 20,551 installed units at the end of December 2019. This would suggest that there is an error in how you have calculated the number of units. As I can't see this calculation, then I can't comment as to what this might be. Whatif has provided the average KM by day and from that I can see that the average is increasing and thus the number of units installed is increasing, its not flat-lining as your graph would suggest. It's all very basic calculations, but the trend suggests we are going in the right direction.
Smokey,
W18 has a lot more data than I do, but it would suggest to me that at the start of the 45 day period the first peak shows about 5.3m km and the last peak shows about 5.8 km. An increase of about 0.5m km. Using 350km per day this would suggest an increase in units over the 45 day period of 1,428. Using my 320km its 1,562 new units. Over a 30 day period, this would be 952 and 1,041 respectively. Say 1,000 per month and it shows 20,551 + (6*1,000) = 26,551. This doesn't take into account any increase in the install rates between now and June.
Smokey,
Where do you get the 350km per unit per day from, I've seen it mentioned a few times on the site, but always thought it was quite high. I don't keep records of all the KM's done each day, but I do know that the following:
KM travelled over 21st and 22nd Jan averaged 6,596,490. We know there are at least 20,551 units by this date, so that's 320km per unit. If there are more units, then this brings the average down. If I use your 350km figure this only gives us 18,847 units installed at this point.
KM travelled over 26th and 27th Feb averaged at 6,907,299. An increase of 310,809 per day in just over a month. Using your 350km figure that’s an extra 888 units installed, using my 320km it's an extra 971 units.
So the KM's are increasing and it would suggest the number of units being installed each month are also increasing.
Smokey,
I'd agree with DR777.
So you could change your calculations to the following:
Over 16000 @ 1st July 2019
20,551 @ 31st Dec 2019
So that's approx 4550 in 6 months or 758/month.
Extrapolate that from 31st Dec 2019 to 1st July 2020 and you get 20,551 + ( 6 * 758 ) = 25099
Its still not 27,000 but its closer!
I'm not saying either calculation is correct, just that people can interpret data in different ways.
Small mention in the New York Times:
"Some truck drivers do have cameras watching them from dashboard mounts. The Guardian from Seeing Machines, a black cylinder with a camera in it, is mounted on top of the dashboard. Face- and gaze-tracking algorithms monitor the driver and send audio alarms, vibrate the driver’s seat and notify the monitoring station if safety parameters are not met."

They haven't taken us off their Innovations page yet, so it should be us!

With PM planning to be in London for a couple of presentations on the 11th February, would it not make sense to issue a trading update a day or two before this, so that it could be used in the presentation. That way it would make more of an impact, especially as one of the presentations is to investors at AJ Bell.
Regarding the OEM wins, I work with construction contracts and the worst thing you can do is sign a contract and then start making a load of changes to it, this tends to cost you a lot more as you have lost the competitive tendering advantage. I’d imagine that there are OEM’s where we have agreed deals in principle, but they are waiting for the disclosure of the NCAP requirements before they finalise the contracts. Better to make sure that these requirements are fully covered in the contract, rather than make changes at a later date.
I'm not sure if this has been posted before (or if the link will work), but I'd say this is what Mike was presenting on the BMW stand. After about a minute he is using eye tracking to control the screen and it would tie in with some of the patents that JC uncovers

That article then leads to Geotab who are offering Guardian in their marketplace, not sure I've seen them mentioned before:

Here's hoping that they are pushing Guardian to be in some of the 1.9m vehicles they look after in 30 countries!!
"The ability to measure and track nearly every asset a worker interacts with is a boon for sure,
but what may prove even more advantageous is the ability to detect driver habits that contribute to accidents and overall poor performance. The Guardian by Seeing Machines is a highly advanced real-time accident prevention technology, using sophisticated eye and face tracking software to detect driver fatigue and distraction. This device can provide immediate intervention through in-cab audio and vibration alerts to the driver. The system also provides fleet managers with daily and weekly reports along with notifications when drivers are at risk."
