It is silly, but one has to wonder what the hell is going on - a 25% drop in a month or three, is not insignificant.

Funds will find it extremely hard to quantify strategic risks in Burford, and even if the risks are fairly low, that i think is causing selling.

PE and PIs can set that aside or balance it to some extent, so buying in that form might come in, and possibly very abruptly.

Very stupid of the company to let YPF, which they knew would take ten years of being subject to the vagaries of geopolitics, damage the standing of the overall company - is now just a stick to interminably beat Burford with. . YPF should have been kept at arms length, in a separate fund or the like.

But the hit from YPF worries is now massively overdone, when read across to pre judgement levels. Someone will come along and extract the value.

Gotta be a pretty weak claim, seeing as YPF was expropriated from Petersen/Eton, and not them!

I think the government position will be leaked to the movers and shakers before us mushrooms will know, so the SP will betray the truth ahead of time.

So again, the talk is of taxing foreign financiers, which Burford in almost all respects - isn't.

And how i wonder, would profit be defined? Burford have been working on that one for the last 4 years! And would it be on current cases? If it's on case by case, then that's a movable feast too. If as i suspect, it would be realisations on new cases only, then it shouldn't have a big effect on earnings

Never been a fan of bogart, (unlike Molot who is highly impressive) and don't believe he is essential to the company (quite the contrary) Can but hope Burford gets taken off our hands by big finance that can better oil the wheels of power.

At least a possible US tax on LitFin would incentivise them to see Petersen collect for the creditors. I also see why it was necessary for Burford to become fully US listed.

I certainly agree Petersfield has huge hidden value, but it simply isn't reflected in the share price, and the trend is awful, against quite supportive indeces. Despite their claims, Argentina is far better placed to pay than all the times that the SP was way higher, and Burford results are far more respectable than those times too- which makes me concerned that Burford might be bought out on the cheap (though my 6 year investment window must come to an end in 2025 due to emigration, so I do have slightly different criteria to the very very LTHs here, TBH)

And perhaps a tacit admission that yes, of course they'll lose the appeal! Plus the creditors showing a bit of teeth, which is about time - I think they/we've been rather too "nice" with Argentina.

But of course, SP deeper and deeper in the mire - well into the pre judgement/post MW range in real terms, which as I say, implies YPF adds nothing, or even detracts.

Maybe time to make Argentina an offer they can't refuse - its nothing but a drag on valuation ... and never again take anything that can take 10 years plus., and get played like a fiddle; the market clearly values it at zero. They're probably as sick of it as I am (as still costing a pretty penny to litigate, as it does for Argentina); the rest of the book is a recipe for predictable solid earnings.

If a SWF, insider or financial services company did have Burford in their cross hairs, then this period of SP self flagellation would be a perfect time to bid (unlikely, I know)

And YPF shares more than doubled. The only loser here is Burford, it's shareholders and it's clients.

Been here since £16 - well 6 years is quite some long term funk, struggling to break the £10 region, with i think the never ending YPF saga spoiling sentiment, feels like it is rotting n the vine, rather than boosting valuations; desperately need a positive update, and on the other large cases. Otherwise, investors just see extremely lumpy and slightly thin cash flow, and case turnover in the timescale of eons.
