Like a bucking bronco - market is doing its best to push us to sell knowing AMC results just around the corner and shorters reducing their position.
Any why can't it also be a bear trap? Asking for a friend? Just in case it gets blocked - its www.business (hyphen) standard.com

I love john wick movies!! There is something about 1 person taking everything down!
Doing it’s normal zig zaggy thing?
Well, shorters do actually push down the share price. Retail can lose their money and sometimes they don't if they hold longterm!
Can you imagine what superhero movies would be like without an enemy. We need an enemy and I pick shorters
Short-and-distort is an illegal market manipulation scheme that involves shorting a stock and then spreading false information. Obviously if the distort happens on these forum boards, then it doesn't become so illegal.
"There's nothing wrong with short selling, the long-standing strategy of speculating on a decline in a stock. Nor can short-sellers be faulted for expressing an opinion about a stock, just like any other market participant. But when opinions give way to falsehoods in the name of a personal gain from a stock's decline, that's something the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) calls "short-and-distort," an illegal market manipulation scheme."
What is hard is linking someone's distort to personal gain (without it being an opinion)
Here is a bit of wishful thinking.
Maybe mooky wants to punish shorters.
Got it! Apologies...
Potentially. It jumped to 19.52 after hours?
Still sticking
Hey squid, whilst I understand where you are coming from, those giving financial advice are those who expect to be paid for said advice. I have never been offered free advice. Financial advice ain’t cheap which is why some posters are a sceptical. Why talk about doom and gloom and offer this advice? To what end? To help people? If Cine goes bust, maybe we will tell ourselves « why didn’t we listen »
Why don’t you set up a conference call with all the investors for a whole day? :)
I come here because I am invested and want to look at facts and also to pass the time whilst I look at my investment going nowhere(at least for now - I hope)
BTW - Not saying I I don’t want to see your posts!
What about turquoise? I want a turquoise day today..
turquoise is blue green so..
Blue for the charts
Green is for money!!
Maybe you are right. Never been successful in investing :(
All I hope is that I haven’t made the wrong decision.. I just know what I see in the cinemas I go to and what I feel as a cinema goer. Despite cineplex lawsuit, this SP doesn’t make sense… similar to the feeling around petrol prices, wholesale prices are down but petrol is going up…
Is this the house edge playing it’s part?
This might jump. It could go either way but the large swings are an indication that market makers are trying to hit stop orders.
The share price of cineworld is bull. Keeping artificially low. Went to watch top gun again in 4dx yesterday. Screen wasn’t full but it wasn’t empty. Enfield cinema was busy for a late Sunday night. Top gun is still bringing in viewers.
I won’t sell my shares despite having an average of 50p~.
I am still holding. Got these shares last year and they have gone down down down. I thought (in my mind) I was making a sound decision. I think I still have.. but time is money.. I will still hold until the end.. people still go the cinema and market makers and shorters obviously want they pay day but it won’t be coming from me
Also the first article has grammatical errors. Seems bizarre
Blackbridge. Going to entertain your analogy for a bit here.
So if a supermarket only stocks baked beans, and there is a run on baked beans, I would invest in baked beans and the supermarket that sells them.
Tesco have thousands of products. Cinemas have 1
If there is a run on a film and it is repeatable, I would invest in cinema.
@mountainous. Your thoughts re £100 per share seem very mountainous but I like it ;)
Random question… if there was one film to rule them all, which film would that be? This is a film, you can watch again and again and again!
Funnily enough, I really live, die, repeat(edge of tomorrow)…,older film - shawshank redemption
Sometimes volume is irrelevant.
I have never been to the cinema as much as now even with lower volume... why? not sure.. post covid pent up need to just go the cinema, still enjoy it. some really good films despite the low volume.
If there are 5 films per month (now) vs 15 films per month (per covid), the volume will make no difference as I will still only watch 2-3 films per month at the cinema. This just means its easier to choose as there is no choice..
Just got back from 4dx cineworld in enfield rafter watching Jurassic world dominion. I liked it despite reviews. 14:50 showing was full when trying to buy tickets. So booked for 20:50 and it was great. First time 4dx. The screen tonight was almost full!!! Yes problems to resolve at cineworld but people still spending money at cinema(including me)..
Close but no cigar :). As a retail investor always in the red, I have learned that share price always does the opposite to what I think will happen (in the short term)-it’s going down tomorrow.. it’s not going down but going up.. it’s breaking even. Shorters will leave or stay. Covering all my bases
