Well I didn’t see that one coming! (Yes, I guess Simon Thompson didn’t either!) it’s made a nice uplift in my overall portfolio today after a lousy week. I guess it’s jam today rather than tomorrow. I see the deal has support from 20% of shareholders already. It’s a nice profit from my 48p purchase price but it’s my second largest holding and if the deal gets approved I’ll miss that nice quarterly chunk of high yield income!

Yes, it was so predictable that it would fall after good results. RR up 5% on its good results and 1000% in four years I think? I’ve made 200% on IAG in similar time… but everyday I regret not having made my “big bet” on RR rather than IAG. I’d have been a RR millionaire! Ugh! Still, better up (overall) than down.

With the “good news” from Davos re tariffs etc I thought AA4 would recover some of the past week’s losses. It seemed to start recovering from the Simon Thompson article sell-off - but now seems to be sinking fast again despite better global news, which suggests it’s very stock specific. I am still holding in the hope that the eventual sale value of the aircraft values the company at more than its current sum. Have I missed something?! Any thoughts much appreciated… that’s if anyone is still here, given the sea of red on the recent transactions list!

Does anyone here have experience of filing the obligatory annual Spanish tax forms for profits made on our IAG shares? I gather it has to be done by the end of January. I sold a small amount of my IAG holding in 2025 - for the first time. If there’s anyone here who doesn’t file the form - can you tell me if you’ve had any consequences?! I hold all mine in a SIPP and am a UK resident.

I wouldn’t want to lose SREI as an investment trust - it pays a decent dividend. Here’s hoping whatever is happening doesn’t involve SREI disappearing. Strange there’s no hint anywhere as to what’s happening.

Has SREI just been recommended by Simon Thompson at Interactive Investor? I don’t know but stocks move dramatically when he makes a recommendation and he’s recommended SREI before. With a large chunk of my pension in it I’m happy whatever!

Not a bad idea, Clank. I sold almost a third of my holding recently, which was the whole of my initial investment - so I’m now just “playing” with profits money, which feels less bad if it drops anytime. (And I still dream of what might have been had I put it all in RR instead, which I’d considered doing with a chunk of my pension SIPP three years ago. Ugh!)

In years to come we’ll be able to tell our grandchildren that we still remember where we were the moment IAG hit £4! (I was in the bathroom shaving). It’s already fallen back to 394. I might top up at 380.

The article says the all-time high was €4.40. But it reached just over £7 in 2018. I’d buy the first round if it reached £7 again - actually I’d buy all the rounds all night!

Looks like good results were indeed already priced in. Very disappointing. Especially after RR yesterday!

It amazes me the power Simon Thompson has! I didn’t think IC had that many subscribers. But, with AA4 as my second-largest holding, I’ll take it! He’s supported it for a while now.

Mine wasn’t there half an hour ago but is now. As before it’s galling to see that for my dividends from the UK’s national flag carrier, on shares held in a British SIPP account, I have paid tax to the Spanish government.

Thank you Buffaloben. Helpful thoughts. I put a large chunk of my pension fund into IAG 3 years ago and have made a substantial gain. Part of me thinks I should sell having done well. But I do believe the price will rise further - and if dividends rise I’ll get a nice income and will be “paid to wait”. If dividends go back to where they once were it would be a good income stock in its own right for me in retirement.

Does anyone know when the next dividend will be paid please? And is it likely IAG will increase the dividend next year or is it now more focussed on buybacks?

I thought the 33% for AirFrance/KLM share price rise in Garonne’s post was a typo! But no. Crazy! If only IAG had responded like that last week!!! Why the big difference?!

I’ve considered selling a large chunk of my shares to bank profits, having bought during the lows of a couple of years ago. However, I’ve been looking back at the dividends pre-Covid and they seem to be at least five times higher than what has just been paid out (annualised). Which if the dividend does return to those levels would give a yield of approx 5% on today’s share price. Which might make it worth keeping as a longer term hold perhaps? Could the dividend recover to pre-2020 levels? Is it a keeer?!
