LONDON, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Specialist British drug delivery company SkyePharma Plc announced plans to change the terms and conditions on two of its convertible bonds and raise 18.4 million pounds ($33 million) by selling new shares. The news came after the close of trading on Monday when SkyePharma's shares rose 44 percent to 5.75 pence following a Reuters report the company was set to announce a renegotiation of its convertible bonds this week. SkyePharma said in a statement it would sell 1.4 billion new shares at 1.5 pence in an underwritten placing and open offer. It said 70 percent of the holders of its 2024 convertible bond and 100 percent of the holders of its 2025 convertible had agreed to proposed changes to the conversion price and dates for put options on the two convertibles. Without renegotiation, exercising the existing put options in 2009 and 2010 could have bankrupted the company. The 2024 convertible's conversion price will be raised to 371 pence per share from 95 pence, and the first put date will be put back to 2013 from 2009, with other puts also delayed. The 2024 bondholders will meet on Sept. 25 to vote on the matter. The 2025 convertible's conversion price will be raised to 382 pence per share from 58 pence, and the first put date will be put back to 2014 from 2010, with other puts also delayed. 'The news, when the renegotiation is announced, should help drive the share price, therefore we're buyers. I still think fundamentall
