IF you have say 4 [or 5 ] potential bidders for a co with a overhanging dept that needs "suporting" then could they agree between themselves how much risk for so much equity [ie 4 could take equal risk and have a 25% of the co each ]
The price they paid to shareholders would not be in a bidding war ,,, JUST a THOUGHT
The current thinking of us [think median] is 63/65 [thanks PATTS for the set up}

Yes "tree shaking" to .35 ish... JMO
Only for those interested in how a contested bid can go against the Bod . "opportunistic" first bid - which was £7.4 billion.
last classic i can recall. see here:
https://www.insider.co.uk/special-reports/melrose-and-gkn-takeover-timeline-12265186
I presume we will get to vote on any deal?
Well if an offer is accepted by the bod and put to shareholders then each share will carry one vote. BUT
The bod will have already sighted up the bidder and fund managers, so in efffect the private investors {US]
vote is normally insignificant...However if there is a contested bid from an outsider [not very often these days]
Then somtimes the sentment can turn and certain fund managers who see more cash coming in from the outsider need extra votes to sway the oportunist deal [as it would be called] then the small guy counts. IE this is say a bid from overseas and a change of BOD , Bank, auditors etal. Thats why it would be talked down ...
Well BW A potential bidder . It is not a particularly good stratigy to amass as you will see ,it could put the target company out of your grasp. That is why the shares are not going up and down like a Yoyo. Because if they paid say £1 for some then >>>>have a read.
Market purchases should never be considered as independent from the terms of the eventual offer, since they can have a significant impact on both the minimum level of consideration and the form of consideration.
Minimum level of consideration: If a bidder acquires an interest in shares in the target company (i) within a three month period before the commencement of the offer period or (ii) between the commencement of the offer period and the announcement by the bidder of a firm intention to make an offer, then except with the consent of the Panel, any offer by that bidder to shareholders of the same class must not be on less favourable terms.
Further, if, after the announcement of a firm intention to make an offer by the bidder but before the offer closes for acceptance, the bidder acquires any interest in shares above the offer price, the bidder is required to increase its offer to not less than the highest price paid for the interest in shares acquired in this way.
thats what i do when i have a profit and MIGHT be a big gain coming but..?????. sell some keep some cover your entry costs plus a little profit take ,,and you are a winner what ever happens.

Buy another 1,349898 and it will go back up buy 2,000000 and it should go up more...
Hmm classic sell on the way up, buy some sell some, average out with a profit at the end of the trading session.
Bin there, done it, got too many tee shirts wifes going mad all the washing....
For newbees If the offers dont come in by september 1st IE the potential bidders all get cold feet and withdraw, the AA price MAY drop like a stone, so i have stop losses in place to preserve the profits to a degree..[according to the price paid being under 38p] might help some
as there is no offer on the table at present [to accept or decline] the potenial bidders must put up or shut up by September 1st
stock exchange rules applied by AA however as there is 4 potentila bidders one or mor could but in a firm offer before that date to get in early [if they sufficent financial info to do so of course]
65p
Well----There could be if offers rejected "A hostile takeover" where the acquisition of one company (called the target company AA) by another (called the acquirer) that is accomplished by going directly to the company's shareholders or fighting to replace management to get the acquisition approved. Been done before ....stops the directors acting in their own interest and not in the interest of the investors. In effect the major sharehoders then call the tune not the directors.
Been investing 50 years so , i will not be holding this as along term investment , perhaps one could sell a lot and keep a few when in profit..However if it is "bought out" there may be no long term investment... as it will most probebly be taken private...
"An official confirmed bid of 40p would send this stock very close to 40p"
CORRECT
the action has been if in with a large holding sell may be 50% on the rise as it hit the market this week on the speculation.[as one can normally get back in at a lower price whilst the 30 day wait as it makes nervouse trigger fingers]
come september deal or no deal 25, 35, 40p 50p ???????? that is the question or if NO bid ...time for a sharp exit one would say.
Shorting occurs when you sell more shares than you own. Since a stock's price is determined by how many people want to buy a share vs. sell one, short selling increases the number of sellers and typically lowers a stock's price.
Hmm perhaps a change of Name by the regular poster who is on most investors FILTER by now i should think.
Infact i have not had a filter message lately.....
Basic info but provides a start to the market..
